The main issue with that thread is that it's old and the answer to most of the activation questions should be "Use Cody's Microsoft Toolkit". Everything else is based off of the open source work Cody published and so for a while the team has said that we should probably delete the thread. We didn't end up deleting it, but now one of the main programs in that thread (KMSpico) will download and use stolen retail keys in an attempt to activate Windows 8.1. That's something we can't support here as we'll receive DMCA takedown notices and in general we don't agree with that method of activation.

When you think about it if we can't allow any posts about KMSpico then what else in that thread is worth keeping? At most we could remove all of the download links and lock the topic so that people could keep their post count, but when it comes to an actual method of activation doesn't "Use Cody's Microsoft Toolkit" answer that question?

By the way... Has anyone seen S!ave77 the last time? Seems he disappeared...

    @DAZ.

Yes, as calling the MDL-Rules the latest KMSpico´s can´t be allowed here anymore. But I think s!ave77s start post should´nt be deleted. And I guess a PM to heldi asking him to release only MDL-conform versions of his tool might be the better solution than to kick all the efforts and endless hours of support of him into this thread into the trashcan.

Surely, MTK is a "MDL-featured"-Tool but I guess the KMSpico shouldn´t really be dropped. At least all builds before the key-helper was added.

agree totally with MDL rules in terms of unwanted tools. To delete an entire thread only because of this is "quite uncool" to name it sportive.
Why not deleting unwanted posts prior to get rid of the entire thing? A hint to heldi and he stops it immediately.
Guys, this is a "no good" decision speaking for the community. Slave's work not to mention ....
Please correct me if I'm wrong

We don't like that the post counts effected, but as I said, we've been talking about deleting that thread for a while and KMSpico using retail keys to activate Windows 8.1 gave us a reason to do so.

The original post in that thread was created before there was a standalone activator for Windows 8. Now that there is one and it's what every other app is based off of then at some point we have to trim the fat. It wouldn't be right for us to tell heldigard what to do with his app, so what I've done here is explain why we can't support it anymore. If he want's to keep working on it and will remove the retail key downloader then that's his choice. We can allow that version to be posted here and I would hope that he knows it's nothing personal. We have to take action towards stolen keys or software using stolen keys to protect the website.

Over the next day or two the team will probably discuss what we'll do with the thread. What I can tell you right now though is that it's not gone for good and at a press of a button your post count could be back.

There was a lot of good stuff about Cody's tools, like the client count increasing thing, setting up VMs and stuff, but Daz is right...
That stuff is not happening anymore. It has devolved into a release thread for KMSPico, which is using some un-supported methods here.
IMO mods should edit the thread and remove the recent KMSPico stuff and then lock it so people can read through and reference the useful VM information and stuff.
I mean no dis-respect to anyone. I am simply stating my feelings.

seems that some input made the team think about this matter. Speaking for myself, I don't care about post counts because I'm not a child any more. I'm talking about a lot of work in any way which many members, especially Slave, have done
Guess you will handle it the right way. FINGERS CROSSED

Well, like Murphy said theres some great things in the thread, but also a lot of bloat.

So far it seems as though people would like the bulk of the info to be saved somewhere, even if it's within a locked thread. Heldigard could then release his software within his own thread if he decides that he want's to drop the retail key downloader. Does that sound fair?

I totally agree. I made a mistake by ignoring the keys leaked on web pages that are updated daily belong to real users. I was foolish to believe that they belonged to M $ and somehow leaked. So put an algorithm that looked at several internet pages these keys, the program retains no, or connect to any server itself , only several pages that publish this information publicly.

My intention with the creation of KMSpico was none other than to automate processes. If any other developer here would have liked to join forces to create a single program would have been great. I always thought that the union is strength and that two heads are more than one. Aside from how much I love to program, take it more as a challenge than as a way to break rules or compete with other official applications.

The creation of this utility would never have been possible without the knowledge put into this forum, so if you consider that the code here should not do something, take this into account and delete that program part, and for me is an application that comes from MDL, although I have received many feedback from different forums, the heart of the program is based on MDL.

For now suspendere KMSpico development and if they think I must be off the forum, then I will too, and that somehow broke the rules without much intention.

I am sorry to have caused problems for some users and / or MDL community.

    Edit:

Fair enough. If the management team agrees to have a thread for that application would be very good and so could also release the source code. Although I'm not that good programmer I fear that few would understand the disorder. :D

One thing I know for sure is the Admins and moderators at MDL have been fair and sometimes overly tolerant in all matters here at MDL .. What they finally decide is ultimately what they've been tasked to do and deserves our support and respect :worthy: :hug2: I mean they are volunteering their time .. cut them some slack .. I thought this was the Windows 8.1 repository anyways

I had some free time so I've cleaned up the KMS thread a little and have closed it for now. People should notice that their post count has increased again.

    @ heldigard
You don't have to provide the source if you don't want to. That's totally up to you. All MDL really cares about is that theres nothing in the software pulling in retail or MAK keys as we'd rather not deal with DMCA takedowns. Thanks for understanding :)

The first post, as maintained by s1ave77, along with the posts he linked to, were perhaps the most useful part of that thread, and I would hope that it could be resurrected in some form.

We'll probably open it back up once heldigard has his own thread. At the moment it's closed just so it doesn't fill back up with mirrors to the "banned" version.
