I slipstreamed them 3 GA updates into my ,iso but today windows update is offering them to me..Why didn't my install USB install them then????
I also am not being offered the download thru the window store..Maybe because I already have it. I want the Microsoft one as I slipstreamed mine with the 3 final updates but windows update still asks to install same 3. It didn't slipstream??????
Much appreciated guys, only one thing left to ask..can i activate using my own key? eg: spp back up, slmgr CP etc?
10 minutes ago, in the machine I installed GA Update Rollup, I also got these updates: KB2884846 KB2895219
You need to follow along here at MDL a little more often, or research a little more lol RTM wasn't even going to come out until GA when MS finished 8.1. Because of developer pressure to get it out before GA so they could prepare for GA, they put it out unfinished and stated numerous times that GA will be updated at release (18th or today now). not to mention anything you get from store/wu will not be a matching HASH since it is not the same as the iso's from MSDN. End result is the same, but the DL is different.
guys, just to get you an idea of what is available officially on TechNet and MSDN: All Enterprise and ProVL versions are updated to 10/17 and can be downloaded including GA fixes Pro versions still show 9.9.13 as availability date, so don't let you fool. Maybe they get replaced later but not as of this moment where I looked at the inventory there
Forgot to mention finally that it is a pleasure to use your tool to simply uninstall VL keys off the VL converted previous Office 15 installation. Instead of fiddling somewhere, MTK-tool does the magic and retail activation works nicely. thanks cody
Has anyone gotten their hands on these new ISOs yet (so far just VL)? I'm curious about how the updates were slipstreamed in. There are three possibilities: 1) They just threw the MSU files on the disc for the updates to be installed at run-time. 2) They added the updates to the WIM via Dism, so the WIM contains the new updated files, as well as the old files that were superseded. 3) They rebuilt the WIM from scratch. So the old superseded files aren't even present. We can do #1 and #2 at home. We can't do #3 at home, so if it's #3, I definitely want it. Which is why I'm curious about it. And if they're doing #1, then I'd rather continue using my own self-slipped images than these new images. (There is precedent for Microsoft taking the laziest method, #1. One of the refreshed Windows XP images from back in the day was done like that, and so are their Office discs, if they contain a SP. But Vista and W7 SP images are of the #3 variety. So are the GA refreshes more like the Office 2010 SP1 disc or more like the Windows 7 SP1 disc, or something in between?)
It's 2 or possibility 4) They add updates to the WIM via Dism, then used command "Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase" to remove the old files. because ian82 reported that the new iso contained the GA updates.
Tell me, I have Windows 8.1 RTM, these new updates (GA)will just install on WU over the RTM with no problems right?
