Well, from the scratch is the install method thai I prefer: only the new OS files. I use install on the boot disk primary partition only the main programs that I use, i.e. Office - the Acronis backup sw - the AV and somevother utility. All the Document folder in other HD, with images, downloads, the Favorites IE folder. So is enough fast the reformat the primary partition and instsall from the scratch the new OS. After install, opening the main user folder is possible to re-create links at folders. Use the ISO for your Language from the first post of this thread. Install from the ISO -> DVD using the generic install key for Windows 8.1 PRO. Search this forum for the generic install key. After the complete install activate with your legit Windows 8 PRO ket If you have a legit Windows 8 installed with all the upadates, from the 18 october there is in the Store the Icon for the Windows 8.1 upgrade: the process is by long time, about 3.4 GB to download. Goog luck
You can use your 8 key to activate 8.1 but it can only be done with Retail no VL or Enterprise editions allow you to use the 8 key. Cheers
volume isos VL and enterprise are only replaced to new version because it is more convenient having the updates included by deploying new os to corporate customers. Business customers are a bit different to handle compared with home users. Therefore the none VL versions are available like they were since RTM day
I want to use the VL version to do my installs because it has them 3 rollups included. Saves a lot of time as many of my customers don't have the best internet speeds. So if they have OEM computers can I still use the VL .iso and use their key to install or would I use the generic serial to install but use there's to activate? Thanks.
you cannot activate a VL version with an embedded OEM key. You need MAK or KMS for activation. Your customer's machines only can be updated with 8.1 pro or core depending on which version was there when shipped.
