    Again & again & again...

oembios.exe will show you what sets will activate

Use oembios changer with correct oembios.* set (oembios.cat on its own does nothing!)

It really IS simple, do not make it complicated

Thank you for your advice, i downloaded the EliteGroup BIOS file and it worked beautifully, strangely it would not activate itself when i ran it on Microsoft Virtual PC but on the other hand XP SP 3 after integrating with Genuine C&C Bios file would activate in Microsoft Virtual PC. Don't know why, ???
but i have installed everything and made a back up and will not be seriously be bothered my any System failure,

Is there just one Hp Pavilion crc set of files? Will the crc32=06d652a4 file set work in a c drive subdirectory?

Not that strange, Virtual PC does not have the required SLP string to pre-activate succesfully, So with the EliteGroup OEMBIOS files you are able to pre-activate the physical machine, but not the virtualized as this depends on virtual hardware and not physical. The fact the GENUINE C&C worked on Virtual Hardware is simply due the fact the Physical Processor is virtualized in Virtual PC, meaning the 'GENUINE INTEL' string is available somewhere in the DMI bios area, and thus matched the 'GENUINE' SLP string used by GENUINE C&C oembios files.

EDIT: By re-reading what i actually wrote i doubt it will make much sense, or does it? ;)

Assuming you have win xp installed. as stated many times in this thread>>>>check out post#1. get the oemtool to see what slp is required for your bios. then download them post #1 in either compressed or uncompressed fashion. get the oembios changer program. install it on your c drive. you will also need .rar installed to open those comp/ or uncomp files that you downloaded. put them in the correct directory made by the oembios file changer program (if u download compressed then the compressed dir. uncompressed then the uncompressed dir.). There will be 4 files that you need inside the .rar file. basically thats a brief synopsis as I understand of how to do it. I'm not so good as putting the links in my post on where those files are located but they're in the XP forum. check the stickys...regards...

I did recently changed the motherboard with the same board number. Is it true if oembios.exe shows nothing goes immediately to the dos prompt I have no slp installed? I do wonder If it had one with the original motherboard? I am using hp oem xp windows. Only has the recovery partition and yourself made HP PC Recovery restore disk only you can make when computer is new. Is there just one set of slp crc files for the hp pavilion? Is the oembios file changer is the processor for the four files or just a decompressor?

We would appreciate if you can use the oembios tool to see if any biosfiles can activate your system...if not, you can add slp string yourself.

I have tried oembios.exe version 1.0 and 1.1 in dos prompt window shows nothing goes directly to the c: prompt. I did this before, freestyler.

managed to convert vl ops into oem and updated with no problems and appears genuine . 2 questions though

1 when extracting oembios tool it extracts to its own folder in c drive . can i delete this folder ? and

2 where do i check where these files have been added to the ops ?

thanks hope its not too confusing

Yes, once the tool is done, you can delete the folder.

The tool adds a reg file for the serial, it also extracts the oembios files and pidgen/dpcdll files to system32 and backup folder. You can see the script in the activation tools folder..the order the files are added can be a point of contention..

Why do you have to check they are added?? If the system is activated and has an -OEM- PID then you are good..

@911medic, urie or anyone else who can confirm my suspicion.

I think i have found some fault (read: unneeded) entries in the oembios tool, for example: ALIENWARE (OEMBIOS.CAT CRC32=CE524ABD)
    Code:
    e000,e05e,,alienware
    f000,079f,,alienware
    f000,07b4,,alienware
    f000,0f66,,alienware
    f000,0f86,,alienware
    f000,1071,,alienware
    f000,1091,,alienware
    f000,10a9,,alienware
    f000,0000,ffff,alienware
    e000,0000,ffff,alienware
Isn't it the 2 entries listed in green cover all those listed in red?

    Another example: SYSTEMAX (OEMBIOS.CAT CRC32=9509CAD5)
    Code:
    F000,0861,,SNC302EEH
    F000,10C9,,SNC302EEH
    F000,0863,,SNC302EEH
    F000,0657,,SNC302EEH
    F000,0864,,SNC302EEH
    F000,1069,,SNC302EEH
    EC61,0091,,SNC302EEH
    F000,0861,,SNC302EEH
    F000,06B1,,SNC302EEH
    F000,06C1,,SNC302EEH
    F000,10E0,,SNC302EEH
    F000,1199,,SNC302EEH
    EC11,0056,,SNC302EEH
    F000,06A1,,SNC302EEH
    E061,0059,,SNC302EEH
    E05F,0059,,SNC302EEH
    F000,0064,,SNC302EEH
    E000,0000,FFFF,SNC302EEH
    F000,0000,FFFF,SNC302EEH

Same logic applies to this set, isn't it?

I replaced the motherboard and windows system work without any software change needed. Is it true that slp is only needed for windows installation, what about HP PC Recovery? oembiostest shows four different crc values that can be used. Is it important which one? There is two different functions of the HP PC Recovery to choose from one of them clears the c: drive partition and reinstalls the software, brings the computer to original start of software.
