hi: I have an epox mobo that there aren't any oembios set files available. 911medic has been helping me try to understand that I have to use the tatoo cd and add an slp somehow into the bios? Then I'll somehow be able to use his oembioschanger (this I know how to do) and use the hp oembios set. I'm not sure how to use the tatoo cd to get this project going. Can anyone explain? regards...
i used the tattoo cd. oembios says I have 3 hp oembios sets. I sed the oembioschanger with the set that ends with 1902 for hp. I then changed the winxp pro key to the one in the tattoo disk ending in 2wpb6. I am still not activated. here is the mgadiag report: Diagnostic Report (1.9.0019.0): ----------------------------------------- WGA Data--> Validation Status: Not Activated Validation Code: 1 Cached Validation Code: N/A Windows Product Key: *****-*****-9BJ82-4PCJX-2WPB6 Windows Product Key Hash: ueqMKpE2vjW53gyIDy01HDiTdPc= Windows Product ID: 55724-OEM-2211906-00106 Windows Product ID Type: 2 Windows License Type: OEM SLP Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0.pro ID: {2F0D77DB-AE4B-48F3-8BA4-C7F3E574CCD5}(3) Is Admin: Yes TestCab: 0x0 WGA Version: Registered, 1.9.42.0 Signed By: Microsoft Product Name: N/A Architecture: N/A Build lab: N/A TTS Error: N/A Validation Diagnostic: 025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-244-80070005_025D1FF3-258-3 Resolution Status: N/A WgaER Data--> ThreatID(s): N/A Version: N/A WGA Notifications Data--> Cached Result: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 File Exists: No Version: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 WgaTray.exe Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 WgaLogon.dll Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGA Notifications Data--> Cached Result: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 Version: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGAExec.exe Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGAAddin.dll Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGA Data--> Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2 Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK 2 OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0 Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80004005 Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-244-80070005_025D1FF3-258-3 Browser Data--> Proxy settings: N/A User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Win32) Default Browser: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.exe Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Disabled Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Allowed Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe: Disabled Allow scripting of Internet Explorer Webbrowser control: Disabled Active scripting: Allowed Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting: Allowed File Scan Data--> Other data--> Office Details: <GenuineResults><MachineData><UGUID>{2F0D77DB-AE4B-48F3-8BA4-C7F3E574CCD5}</UGUID><Version>1.9.0019.0</Version><OS>5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0.pro</OS><Architecture>x32</Architecture><PKey>*****-*****-*****-*****-2WPB6</PKey><PID>55724-OEM-2211906-00106</PID><PIDType>2</PIDType><SID>S-1-5-21-1004336348-1844237615-1801674531</SID><SYSTEM><Manufacturer>Hewlett-Packard</Manufacturer><Model>AWRDACPI</Model></SYSTEM><BIOS><Manufacturer>Phoenix Technologies, LTD</Manufacturer><Version>6.00 PG</Version><SMBIOSVersion major="2" minor="2"/><Date>20060811000000.000000+000</Date><SLPBIOS>Compaq,Hewlett,Hewlett,Compaq</SLPBIOS></BIOS><HWID>F411319701844068</HWID><UserLCID>0409</UserLCID><SystemLCID>0409</SystemLCID><TimeZone>Eastern Standard Time(GMT-05:00)</TimeZone><iJoin>0</iJoin><SBID><stat>3</stat><msppid></msppid><name></name><model></model></SBID><OEM/><GANotification/></MachineData><Software><Office><Result>114</Result><Products><Product GUID="{90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}"><LegitResult>114</LegitResult><Name>Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003</Name><Ver>11</Ver><Val>59D1605114E3500</Val><Hash>vfZmaSmFPIYrLWTcZSZErUQg+Fo=</Hash><Pid>73931-640-0000106-57768</Pid><PidType>14</PidType></Product></Products><Applications><App Id="15" Version="11" Result="114"/><App Id="16" Version="11" Result="114"/><App Id="18" Version="11" Result="114"/><App Id="19" Version="11" Result="114"/><App Id="1A" Version="11" Result="114"/><App Id="1B" Version="11" Result="114"/><App Id="44" Version="11" Result="114"/></Applications></Office></Software></GenuineResults> Licensing Data--> N/A Windows Activation Technologies--> N/A HWID Data--> N/A OEM Activation 1.0 Data--> BIOS string matches: yes Marker string from BIOS: 1005A:Compaq Computer Corporation|1005A:Compaq Computer Corporation|1005A:Hewlett-Packard Company Marker string from OEMBIOS.DAT: Compaq,Hewlett,Hewlett,Compaq OEM Activation 2.0 Data--> N/A
See the set above. Also the changer will set the serial for you dependent on the OEMBIOS set used. You do not need to change the serial manually. You need to be SURE that the previous antiWPA is removed, otherwise the oembios change will not make a difference. Be sure of this.
medic: I tried tattooing a gateway set as an experiment with the tattoo cd. that part works but again I can't activate. after freestyler answered the thread I used one of the other hp sets that oembios reports and reran the tattoo to make it hp again. then reran the changer with that other hp set and still no good. It was 2am and I was bleary eyed last night and gave up. This morning I put a test hard drive in and installed XP with that VL disk, the one that does not need your changer to activate. mgadiag reports it as GENUINE. So the problem is probably corruption of files because I ran wga, antiwpa3 and the changer numerous times. The problem is I do not know how to UNINSTALL ANTIWPA3. When you run the antiwpa3.exe file there is only a INSTALL routine. It never asks if I want to uninstall. I googled it and came up with some unreg32dll command?? that unregisters antiwpa.dll but thats it. Seems to me the antiwpa install routine does a lot more, making registry changes etc. If I can properly uninstall antiwpa3 then I might be on the right track. Does anyone know how to do it properly? Regards...
That would be my suggestion too. Format, apply correct OEMBIOS set, install hardware drivers and essential software, make a backup, then fill it with the usual junk that eventually slows down XP
yes that of course will work but this is a friends machine with loads of personal garbage. If I can just activate then problem solved and a lot less work. as I said the oem vl disk works even without the changer. its activates/genuine. But not in the mood to reinstall all his programs/data etc. plus this is a learning experience. like this new question. I just flashed the bios with the original and last epox .bin file but oembios still says I have the hp string. shouldn't that have gotten wiped out and there should be no known oembios sets like it was before tattooing??? regards
You don't need to the changer will do it When you Tattooed the computer it is stored DMI area you are not actually flashing the bios that is why it it safe.
ok cool, I was just rereading medic's thread. we're on the same page the repair just finished. all personal files are still there. I got a number of errors when the desktop started but I believe its because the repair wipes out all the service packs. I have to install the sp's to run the changer. installing sp2 right now (50%). hopefully that works then I'll do sp3 and then the changer and report back. If this runs into a snag I'm just going to do a new install and be done with it. at this point it will be less work to re-install his programs and data. be back later...regards..
Repair does more damage than reinstall. Windows will probably be back to normal, but some programs will malfunction or simply not work. If I were you, I would backup the user's account folder or the entire partition, then boot from the cd, delete the partition and just start over.
