I got what i needed done even though it broke the branding part. I can live with that. It auto activates now and the winnt.sif takes care of most the other unattend options. Thanks to whoever said just replace the four OEM files in the i386 folder. That was all it took get the SLP activation to work properly. Still using my OEM Product key in the WINNT.sif file. ................................................................................................................................. Some other things I did while making the new bootable ISO to help save time using nLite: nLite: was useful also in working with the OEM DVD and integrating all the drivers. (Just another thing I no longer have to waste time installing unless a new driver comes out.) nLite: Since I was at it I integrated all the latest updates and IE8 into the ISO also and saved another 30 minutes. Windows Updates Downloader 2.50 build 1002: used this to download all the latest updates and IE8 to be integrated. Thanks to everyone here for your help.
Tito you are wrong some XP OEM:SLP keys are brand specific ( we are not talking about the MS Pro generic one ) especially when using an existing manufacturer oem:slp cd and you change bios files. Also there is no MS XP Home generic oem;slp key.
Are you sure?? May be I'm wrong, but afaik this rule applies for all oem:slp keys. I myself activated VirtualBox (bios modded with XP mode string) many times using corresponding oembios set & randomly picked oem:slp key (from the former XP oem:slp key repository).
Yes I am sure and if you still have the list you will see some where as others are not also look at OEMBIOS Changer.
Ok, no hair-spitting here, but I have just installed & activated XP Home using the Dell key on VirtualBox HP modded bios. Shared SLP means multiple manufacturer use same key or rather I say they are allotted same key by MS.
skydrive is down - is there an alternative link GENUINE INC C&C (OEMBIOS.CAT CRC32=8B2EBECB) Code: F000,0000,FFFF,GENUINE link please
Hiya, Got problem with OEMBIOS. When I run XPOEM.EXE from Windows I get CRC32=CD4E1902. I downloaded CD4E1902.rar using torrents. I installed OEMBIOSCHANGER, put files in Uncompressed Oembios Folder. Run, press 5, chose XP and restarted. Now is there anything else I have to do? I still cant pass genuine check. When I tried to do bootable usb using Tito's advice (forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/9795-The-Windows-XP-OEMBIOS-Archive/page36?p=377705&viewfull=1#post377705) I used rufus 1.2, made blank MS-DOS pendrive, unpacked OEMBIOSTEST-USB.7z, placed files. After restart and start from USB it says that none of 125 contained keys would work for my system. Im new to this but I think I followed all the steps. Please help
Ok... I messed up something. Now when I run from Windows it shows that none of 125 contained sets will preactivate my system. Both times I used 1.1/374/125. But I do have a screen shot that shows Windows CRC before I meesed up. No "E:" there. I do have backup done with OEMBIOSCHANGER. My Windows now says I have 30 days for activation. Any suggestions?
If your board already has the latest BIOS, the only other option is adding SLP 1.0 to the BIOS by requesting a mod. Since you're at it, ask for SLIC 2.1
What board, what computer, oem or homebuilt, use the tattoo disc from the stickies. Not likely a need for a bios mod.. Need more info...
Thanks! Now what does it mean? Do I request it on main forum? What details I have to include? Once again thanks. /e: Wow that's fast. Old PC board is MSI K8n Platinum, (what computer?) home pc, homebuilt. I have tattoo usb done but says cant find system there. Will have to try again with different tool. What other info you need? /e2: Thanks 911medic for tip! Tattoo worked. I just burnt it on cd and didnt wast time with usb (dunno why usb didnt work) Thank both of you. Post solved =-D
Weird, just installed XP Pro SP3 OEM (Retail with modified SETUPP.INI) on a ECS P4VXASD2 motherboard, XP OEMBIOS Test v1.1/374/125 finds "F: Elitegroup Computer Systems Co Ltd OEMBIOS.CAT CRC32=8EE1223C", I replaced OEMBIOS.BIN/DAT/SIG in system32 and OEMBIOS.CAT in catroot\{blablabla} with the ones from set 8EE1223C and it still asks for activation. Did I miss something? EDIT: dumb me, forgot about replacing original OEMBIOS files in system32\dllcache folder too! Files replaced, sfc warning ignored, windows activated
How do I go about extracting the oembios.exe file from the ISO image file? Mounting it as an image or opening in an ISO editor only shows the readme.txt file. I'd like to be able to copy the file onto a 3.5" floppy if possible.
Thank you Tito. I'm still interested in learning how to go about extracting the file(s) from the ISO. UltraISO doesn't show the files for some reason. What tool do I need to do this for myself?
