    I know pretty much all of my laptop's specs. Not the best, still okay. BUT. Is my CPU supposed to smell and the heatsink looks like it's 'bout to give? I won't mind spending money for my laptop, BTW.

    Specs:
    CPU - Pentium Dual Core, T3400 @ 2.16GHz
    RAM - 2GB, Made by Samsung
    GPU - Intel Mobile GM45 Express Chipset
    Anything else ya need, ask.

    Your computer has reasonable settings.

    But he can improve. Include more 4 Gb of RAM :)

    Makes sense. I have enough to buy that much RAM. Would help with running Windows Thin PC in Ubuntu. Thanks for the suggestion!

    In order for you to have seen the lappy's heatsink you must have had it in bits.

    Maybe you could take it off the chip, give them both a good clean the apply some new good quality thermal paste. Refit everything and make sure the exhaust fan is free of dust.

    This is the route I would go down. Shame you cant buy aftermarket bits like this for laptops. Just like you can for desktops.
