Hi, I will try this tomorrow, but which tool should i use to set the SLP to ON. HP103.exe does not work (its old), and i am not sure what tool to use. thanks
Hi TTAV134, thanks a lot first of all. I downloaded the modded BIOS file for 2510p and flashed the BIOS in XP. Installed Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on my 2510p, it works fine and past the WGA validation. However there is one thing that confuses me whether I did it successfully or failed. There is a message shows on my display righter after the computer turns on. It says " Your BIOS failed to complete the updater. Please ensure that you follow the correct procedure and try again. This may require two sequential BIOS updates to complete the process". Is there second BIOS update to process? Thanks in advance. Or can anybody else get the same issue advise a solution please?
Thank you but it didn't work for me. I did what you told and still get the same message after that. I've even loaded as well the 2510p modded bios you recommended.
If the flash process has resulted in that "2nd pass" message, maybe ask HP to send you out a new EEPROM chip? It's easily replaced via the 1.8" drive bay door.
They'll probably replace the whole systemboard if they don't know their own 2510P has a socketable AND user replacable bios eeprom chip. If the system is out of warranty consider grabbing US$30 USB eeprom burner off ebay, a couple of AT25DF321 chips and copy a 'good' 2510P bios dump to it, then try the SLIC flash again. Now getting a good bios dump may need physical access to another 2510P.
Using HPBI103 in a dc7700 the slp can be read, value is disabled. When running Hpbi103 write slp on I got write failed, errorcode=0x87. None of the others tools included in HP_DMI works with the bios of this computer.
something else to test, with RW make "memory dump" start Address FFF00000, scroll down one time, and you will find the serial number of your machine, if the byte just before the serial number is 00 the SLP is OFF, if it is FF, the SLP is ON. (at least on the machines working with HPBI103 utility)
Ok, here are the Tables with the Loader uninstalled, so they will not show the SLIC. With the loader the memory at FFF00000 shows FF as the value, i will soon check without the loader (which i assume does not change the value).. All values starting at that memory location is FF (And all around it before too). the machine name does appear but way before that address.. I can send you the dump if you wish.
the structure of these BIOS'S is different from the one I usualy patch. we have to wait a leak from china for the tools.
