    One note about hpunpack,

I have replaced the intel logo, whith other one a few bytes smaller and the result was a non bootable machine. I have used the recovery disk so everything is ok.

But take care of the sizes... I don't know if instead of FFs just before romblock it can take care and fill FFs till the end of the section.

@Zerg32 great work! I had recovery the bios from one modified by your tool, so is quite safe to use and try mods....

    USB3 mini-PCI-e card installation

    I just bought a mini PCI-e card NEC with 2 USB3 ports

I installed it in place of my 8710p but it is recognised ONLY IF
i boot with the original 4965 intel wifi mini PCI-e and hot swap it during windows 7 sleep

After hot swapping it works fine and with great speed with my external
    USB3 hard disk.
I plan to connect both an internal hard disk with a usb3--> sata in the dvd-rom bay
    and an external usb3 port

My problem is how to make it work without hot swapping?

I tried both 8710 unwhitelisted bios:

    forum.notebookreview.com/hp-b...10p-2510p.html

    and Bios from this thread:

This is no request thread! HP COMPAQ bioses, how to modify the bios?

    with no success.

If I boot with the usb3 mini-pci installed the card is disabled and no
matter what i do it can not be seen from windows.(but i get NO ERRORS
    during boot)

    I also tried
    vidock
    DIY ViDock Experiences

    without success

    Any HELP?

    Thank you

I have seen a lot of emphasis in this thread on laptops. I ask: What about the desktops? A lot of the older dell desktops have bios mods available; The tools work well for them; I did my Dimension 8300 with a slic 2.1 and with that mod it was saved from the landfill, as well as my ASUS P4P800 Deluxe.

I have an HP EVO 510 and HP 530 I'd like to modify, but I'm stumped as to the methodology. I had little trouble modding my emachines 5243 from slic 2.0 to 2.1.

I am not making a mod request for these bioses; I am more wondering about the modification methods so I might do it myself; With the tutorials and with experimentation I feel confident in modding award, ami and Phoenix bioses.

I bricked my emachine and unbricked it by doing a hotflash using uniflash and another motherboard, so advanced techniques are not unfamiliar to me.

I've been reading the postings and gathering a bit here and there but I'm still a bit in the dark.

The older HP desktops are just as common as the older Dells.

I haven't tried any of the Compaqs, but I'm guessing they are just as cantankerous.

Is there any hope for HP desktop modding?

    Error 105.

    Hello,
I'm new to the forum and I'm a little inundated with the information listed here. I was looking around, but couldn't find out if there was a version of BIOS that had the whitepapers removed already made for the following laptop

    Please help,

    Manufacturer: HP
    Product: HP Pavilion dv2500
    Model Number: DV2550se
    Bios Type: Phoenix
    Bios Revision: F.2E
    Released: 2008-12-15

I'm having an issue with error "105 - Unsupported Broadband Network Device Detected, System Halted; Please remove device and restart Computer"
The thing is, I've removed every removable device that there is and I still get the same error... Even removed the onboard battery for a few days. I wanted to boot into Windows to see if I can re-Flash the BIOS, but I can't get past this error. I was looking for a tutorial on how to bypass the error and get into Windows, but couldn't find anything and that's when I started reading up here and thought that if the restrictive Whitepapers were removed, I'd be able to go from there. If there is a guide on how to do it, I'd be glad to attempt it all myself; I'd hate to preoccupy someone else's time if I can take care of it....
I'd appreciate any direction that you chaps could give me.
