The first trailer for Steven Splielberg's new movie "Disclosure Day" was released yesterday, the movie's release date is 6/12/26, and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully the U.S. government doesn't beat him to it and spoil it for us. lol

Although I've watched it more than a dozen times, there's a question I keep asking myself: Are any of the main characters actually aliens, or are they just humans who are being influenced and controlled by aliens? The closest thing I see to a character who might be an alien is the character played by Colin Firth, who can seemingly change his eye coloring at will (or maybe because he's under stress?). Then again, maybe he is just a human with higher powers given to him by the aliens. Who knows at this point? Anyway, this is a change for Spielberg, whose previous movies, like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, depicted alien characters who were truly alien in their their appearance.

I'm intrigued by the many references made to religion. First, the hand closing around the cross on the necklace. Notice that it's not a plain cross, but a crucifix, which symbolizes the Crucifixion of Christ and is worn by members of the Catholic Church.

Second, the several appearances made by the cardinal, which is clearly a reference to the Cardinals of the Catholic Church. It's also a reference to a line from a poem by Victoria McGovern: "Cardinals appear when angels are near".

Third, the scene where the nuns appear to be watching Emily Blunt's character speaking in an alien tongue on television. I noticed that the nuns who are standing seemed concerned, or even afraid, but the one nun who is seated right at the front, and looks over the top of her glasses, seems more intrigued than afraid. Is she already aware of something the rest of us aren't aware of?

And last, the scene with the two hands reaching toward each other against a backdrop of bright white light, very similar in appearance to Michelangelo's painting "The Creation of Adam". One thing I noticed that seemed a bit strange was the hand on the right appears to be non-human, almost like a mannequin's hand. Maybe an alien taking on a human form in order to make contact? Or maybe it's meant to symbolize "The Hand of God", signifying God's presence and guidance? And during the scene, you are hearing the voice over "Why would He make such a vast universe, yet save it only for us?". Is it possible that the aliens are attempting to re-connect humanity with God? Or perhaps it's God himself?

I'm not trying to be a religious fanatic here, I'm just trying to illustrate that Spielberg has included these religious references and symbols for a definite reason, and I'm trying to guess the what, why, and how behind it. Anyway, it will certainly be interesting when the movie finally does come out and the truth is revealed.

OK, I'll admit I've been slacking, so it's time to bring ourselves up to date. First, the Superbowl trailer:

And now the latest trailer, released as of six hours ago:

Each time, another layer is peeled back and we get to peer a little deeper into the mystery.

I've finally found the time to get back to this thread. The other night I was watching the trailers (for about the 100th time or more) and was struck by something I didn't notice until then. I'm going to be jumping back and forth, combining scenes from all three trailers, in an attempt to piece together an idea, so bear with me.

In the third trailer, you see Emily Blunt's adult character open a door and take a step into a room with a soft glow. The walls have wallpaper in a pattern of butterflies. She sticks her hand into a wicker basket filled with crayons. She stares at a mobile hanging from the ceiling, which has paper cutouts of birds. You don't see the birds themselves, just their silhouettes dancing across her face. She asks herself "Why would they do this?".

Now we shift to another scene. A little girl sitting on a bed, the mobile with the cardinals hanging above her head. A deer steps into the scene, and she is not frightened by it's presence. Then a cardinal appears and lands on one of the deer's antlers, and her attention is drawn to it. Next, the scene with the girl walking towards the house with the brightly illuminated windows, accompanied by the deer, a fox, and a raccoon. Finally, the girl approaches the front door, and the door begins to swing open. Note she is wearing pink pajamas.

Now, another shift. The girl is lying down in a brightly lit room and arching her neck, in an attempt to look at something behind her. You see two hands reaching for each other, the little girl's hand with the sleeve of her pink pajamas showing, and another hand, which has pajamas with a blue sleeve. Then, in the very next scene, there is an adult Emily Blunt and an adult Josh O'Connor sitting next to each other, both wearing the electrodes on their heads. They join hands, and she says "Whatever you do, don't let go". He chimes in with her saying "Don't let go." And in the very next scene, an alien craft appears.

So now my interpretation of all this. Is Emily Blunt's character having a flashback to when she was still a child? Is it triggered by seeing the mobile with the cardinals when she visits the room years later? And now the $100,000 dollar question, as a child, was she an alien abductee? And does the other hand in that scene belong to Josh O'Connor? Was he also abducted at the same time as her? Is that their connection? Remember, he states that he understands the alien language, and she is capable of speaking it. It also appears Emily Blunt is a shape shifter. How did they come to possess these abilities?

Just thought I'd throw that out there and see what other people think.

The latest trailer is out as of yesterday, and it confirms what I said above. Emily Blunt's character and Josh O'Connor's character are both alien abductees, abducted when they were children. Now we understand why Emily Blunt's character can speak the alien language, and why Josh O'Connor's character can understand it.
