155 bytes to remove unnecessary files on disk

    Ok it's ready :).
Download and extract, but before running the batch file, modify it and in the first line, instead of Adam, write your username.
    C:\Users\Adam\AppData\Local\Temp\ -> C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\
    Then save it
You will do this modification once ;)!
    Sorry for my bad english

I also think that you should not delete MSOCache. Everything may seem to work in daily usage, but some future Office update might fail for example.

Deleting MSOCache is still nothing compared to deleting Windows\winsxs, now that's a complete mistake ;)

If you are not using Windows Search Indexing for some reason, you can empty the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications. Windows Search service must of course be disabled and not running before you do this. Depending on your system (how many files are indexed), you might gain as much space as with MSOCache. But no fast searching anymore.

Even back then when I was using Office 2007 when I deleted MSOCACHE I was able to do everything, install a service pack for office, uninstall , use, etc......

agreed, when you select custom installation, then click on the top product and select "Run all from my computer" the installer installs everything available thus the msocashe isnt needed anymore for future use.

AT LAST! Someone who knows what he's talking about!

If you select Run all from my computer" which I dont see any reasons why someone might not do that, you will never EVER have a problem when deleting MSOCACHE.

Youll save yourself a headache by getting more HDD space, and never encountering a problem when you're trying to access any feature of OFfice

Oh I disable System Restore so that's why I forgot to mention this in the Guide.

I'm not a n00b, I don't want a service actively running to save my back.

I install everything, run Acronis True Image, when I have a problem in the future, I am back to normal within 10 mins :)

Moved to 'Chit Chat' as this isn't limited to 'Windows 7' per se

You keep bumping it, so I decided to just move it to a less active section, beside that reducing disk space is not specific for Windows 7 and could be useful for OS's as well

Topic posted: 08-28-2010, Looks more like Days and not Months! ;)

I made a batch file that will do all of the steps in this guide automatically for ya :D

No need to go to each folder individually anymore.

Feel free to edit what you want or add an extra drive like you will notice in the command I mjade for the delete recycly bin files...you may need to edit or add another drive....

Thanks for the tips. Using a free software to clean these files at once would be far better than going through all theses processes.
