ROFL, you are giving this forum too much credit, it is insignificant in comparison to real warez forums, which provide the full service, like an already activated ISO, etc.
LOL! No, it's because this forum is not on their radar because it provides a negligible number of people (compared to the the global number of Windows users), methods of activating their products without paying, if the methods on MDL started making even a slight impact on their sales they would act accordingly, people who use these methods are a small minority, most people who use Windows as their everyday OS don't even know what MDL is, let alone what these programs do, MS are not interested in single users hacktivating their products, they are interested in companies mass selling dodge activations MDL is hardly a MS killer
The same can be said about emulators. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft is likely to become bankrupted anytime soon because of emulation. I emulate a ton of consoles, even newer ones but I support the companies and buy both the console and games also. QFT
Pretty much the same for all kinds of piracy, never seen Sony close their doors because of torrents, or Ubisoft claim bankruptcy because a few people pirated FC5, fairly sure all these big Hollywood actors are still millionaires too.. Piracy/Sales = Two different worlds, neither much affecting the other The only reason there's a big thing about it is because the anti-piracy trolls make a killing from it
I would add one exception. "Try before you buy" (H20) In the early 2000s this group shook up an entire industry. As a complete novice (I still am), it was a legendary time, and absolute magic to watch what these guys did. Back then the groups did what they did because they loved it, and for prestige. They wrecked encryption schemes Mission Impossible-style and all the rich guys got pwned!
I both understand and agree. I was merely reminiscing, and responding to MrMagic's statement that such practices don't impact their respective industries. I was not disagreeing with MrMagic, but simply mentioning that AT ONE TIME that one group did certainly shake things up a bit (in a niche market, that is).
what do you expect. i was brought here because the "KMS_Service.log" file in my kms folder had MDL listed at the top of the log as "official website" lol i came crawling back for more
MDL General Rules: 1.Crack And It Content isn't Allowed! 2.No Unofficial ISO (Or maybe Product) 3.And Certainly Must Be Polite Right?
It is still curious why Microsoft hasn't forced this site to shut down, not that I would want that to happen...
IMHO, this site, and others like it, hasn't been shut down is because M$ isn't Apple. IMHO, Apple has a strong hold on all software for the Apple products. IMHO, this is why M$ is used than Macs. We, the users know how to use Windows, and not to many people know how to use Mac OS. M$, IMHO, would only go after large companies that circumnavigate M$ software. Also, large companies get a discount because they buy Volume licenses. This is my opinion, and I could be wrong.
Big fish vs. little fish. Big fish, the big companies with thousands of PCs, using MS' and other company's products for earning money. They have contracts and undergo regular audit procedures. Little fish, a few geeks and enth(o)usiasts in a forum who do not earn any (or significant amounts of) money using MS products. They even help find issues and problems. Which ones would YOU go after? Addendum: Breaking into their servers and stealing keys, or leaking their non-public product builds will set them up. Not a good idea, as a few guys (prabhu, Kibkalo, Canouna, ...) have learned.
"But, your honor, it's not as though I smashed a window to get into the house; they left the basement door unlocked! Surely you can see the distinction!"
