does the title "....insert...slic" mean that we can now insert slic 2.1 into older dell BIOS that only has slp and no SLIC at all? ex: dell latitude 5150.

    Thanks!

I think with the latest version if you put PacBel in the additional ID box it should do it fine.

It got the PacBel string, but I had to change the PBNB0017 string manually.. It is hit and miss with these for me..maybe you have better luck. These two strings are in the same location but separated by two other PBNB strings...

    Ye of little faith!

UNTick only replace OEM/Table IDs preceeded by C3h
Tick additional IDs and put 'PacBel' in the box

    Should be fine!

    Andy,
IMO, it's too complex already.
Looks like you are the only one knows how it works exactly.
Time to add F1/Help to it? :worthy:

The readme is pretty detailed. I admit it does take experience with it to know what to use.... Occasionally I make suggestions to the main modders, but they know it pretty well!

Agreed for the main problems (normally size problems with phoenix). The problem with the other problems (!) is that they are normally special one off cases, and often without looking in a hex editor it is not obvious what to do anyway. These are probably best tackled when they arise.

Phoenix are complex by nature. The main reason the tool is so complex is because the phoenix bios is so diverse. He was adding fixes to the tool as we were fixing them manually..I think in some instances, manual mods will have to be done, and so it can be with the options in the tool.

Even as complex as the tool seems, it is still easier than doing the SSv2 mod manually, without the PBE; as PBE was a crapshoot at best and the "proper" mods had to be done piece by piece..

I figure if you do the research and still can't manage the mods, then the folks should be asking here..thats the problem with someone else selling or otherwise using the tools on other websites...who's gonna trouble shoot???

BTW..I have faith in it..it is just easier for me do do it "my way"...
I still cant get it to change the PBNB0017 string...

Are you loading the RW report. If not, then put both 'PacBel' and 'PBNB0017' as additional strings.

Upon loading my factory bios file into phoenixtool112, it reports:

Complete SLIC (2.0)(FUJ PC) in BIOSCOD01.ROM(x1)
Complete SLIC (2.0)(FSC PC) in BIOSCOD01.ROM(x1)

Does this mean that there are two separate and complete SLICs in this BIOS?

Anyway, when doing a dynamic mod, always only the first one is replaced. I would like to replace the second one instead. How can this be done?

The reason I would like to replace the second one it to maintain compatibility with the factory OS certificate, because the other issue I have is that the "FUJITSU" 2.1 slic can't fit into BIOSCOD01.ROM (3 bytes too long), so instead I'm using the "FSC" 2.1 slic - which does fit.

Is there some way to replace the second SLIC entry instead of the first?

It will replace the one that matches the one in the RW report. There is no need to replace the other.

You need to flash previous version, then update to the present mod. Should have modded the newest bios first..
