Hi Andy, With regard to PMT V1.13 and the problem I had that the program would not complete because it generated an error with regard to the size of BIOSCOD02. After doing some investigation today I would like to report that the same input files work fine with program versions 1.00 and 1.01rc4. ( I have not been able to find a working link to Ver 1.10). Both the versions I tested today have problems initially finding the original BIOS files, but I have found a work around for that. I check the resulting .ROM files and found that the xx.slic.rom file has the 2.1 SLIC where the XX.ROM file has FFs. While I would think that the .RW file would have had the 2.0 SLIC there, it may be that it was erased when the XX.ROM file was created - ??? There is also a place where three bytes are different and another rather large area where there are virtually continuous differences. Hence I suspect that the progam is doing its job. However, as I reported, when I use these same inputs with ver 1.13 the program will not complete. I have done this for ThinkPad T500 and a X200 file sets and have gotten the same results for both. I have run the program on each of those computers, and both computers are running WIN XP SP-3. Results are the same. You mentioned in your reply that the program worked for you. Did you use the inputs I sent or did you have your own to try? If you used the ones I sent, I would appreciate it if you would send the resulting xx.slic.rom file so I could compare it against the ones I got with Ver 1.00 and 1.01 rc4. This would further verify that the results I got with Ver 1.0 and 1.01rc4 are working OK. About a month ago I successfully used one of the versions to modify the BIOS of a ThinkPad R500. Unfortunately, I don't have the information on which program version I actually used. I had no problems at all with that modification, so I am confident the basic program is sound, on the other hand the work I did today would indicate there is a small bug that has crept into the program -- or, of course, it could be that I am being properly rewarded for my ignorance. BTW, the .rtf file that I enclosed in the file package has screen captures of the inputs to the program as well as the responses to those inputs. If you have any suggestions I would be glad to try them if it would be helpful to you as you further the development of the program or if you think I am doing something incorrectly. Please be assured I am not trying to condem the program! I would like to learn what I am doing wrong if it is a cockpit error, or if it is a bug I would like to help localize it if you would like me to. I appreciate your efforts in building the program and any insight you might pass along regarding my current problem. -- Thank You.
I have an HP dv7 labtop and I found a mod bios that should match mine here in the forum. But unlike the original bios we could find in hp.com it's no more one executable file (sp45082.exe ) ! Anyone could explain what should I do to update bios ( what tool to use, what file to choose .... )? I'm not a programmer and things are messed up Thank you very much
just extract all the files from the executable and replace the bios file with the patched one... make sure the in files have the correct filename of the bios as the exe normall passes a parameter instead of directly reading the ini files.. then run winflash and your done..
Thank you very much ! Just for those looking for a mod Bios for HP dv7-1160ek search for any mod version of the original sp45082 Bios ( any HP labtop model with that Bios ex : HP_Pavilion_dv7-1273cl, HP Pavillion dv7 1030ep , HP_Pavilion_dv7t-1000_CTO ... ) Same original Bios so same mod Bios Thank you guys !! this bord rocks !!
