Hi Andyp, I have a problem with version 1.20 & 1.21 after you add the ability to mod the DELL bioses. I test it with dell OPTIPLEX 755 bios which already have slic2.0, the tool correctly identified the dell bios and reported that it has slic2.0 B9K, this time and not like versions perior to 1.20 it does not offer to select Pubkey and Marker but it ask to select the bin file for the slic2.1, after selected the bin and push GO the following message popup. "There is an existing SLIC in the BIOS. Are you sure you want to perform SSV2 modification?" When i select YES the operation failed. by the way the method selected befor the pushing the GO bottom is dynamic
My first post, if I haven't replied in the correct place please guide me. I have gone through AndyP's procedure to the letter and have a new rom file for my Aptio bios on my Sony Vaio VGN-NS20J and am now wondering what to do next after flashing obviously, have I missed anything and should I verify? Thanks to all
Cheers, does anyone know if theres a crisis procedure for this type of BIOS? Also what parameters should I use for Afudos? Thanks
Hi Andyp, Do RWEverthing Report require for modding Dell BIOS? Just wanted to make sure before I do test on my dell notebook. thanks.
It selects Dynamic so it will dynamically replace the existing slic, this is the right option which is why it's the default, ssv2 will add a whole new slic, which is why it's needed for machines with no slic at all. You should be using Dynamic.
Cheers phrunt, I was thinking in case of no posting, as in magic key combination to load a bios from USB or cdrom It's a laptop so no floppy
The message "There is an existing SLIC in the BIOS. Are you sure you want to perform SSV2 modification?" appeared although having the method "DYNAMIC" selected. That is why halaween asked why that message came... obviously it should not come when dynamic method is selected (at least when SSV2 really means that a whole new slic is inserted). Or maybe I just understood something wrong?!...
MarkCoolio - You're right, I read it wrong. I tested with his bios and even when doing a Dynamic mod it does come up saying it's doing a SSV2 mod and a slic already exists.
Trying to mod a Dell Dimension B110 and a Dimension 4700 BIOS. Tool worked great modding the B110 BIOS. When I insert the AcpiTbls.rw file for the 4700 into the SLIC Mod Tool I get the following error Error 13 - Conversion from string "....v...... 2E CD 0F 00 56 CD 0" to type 'UInteger is not valid. Any ideas?
I was able to mod the 4700 A09 bois and on the A10 bois I was able to do it by changing the 3rd and 4rd line of the Root System Description Table in the A10 RW file to (I copy that two line form the A09 RW File) 61 00 00 00 46 CC 0F 00 D5 6F FC FF BA CC 0F 00a...F....o...... 2C CD 0F 00 54 CD 0F 00 BB CD 0F 00 F9 CD 0F 00,...T...........
I tried running the tool without the rw file and using dynamic mode and received a successful mod. I have not tried updating the bios yet to see if it works. I will try your method also to see what I get for results. Thanks Update: Changed the rw file as suggested and now the mod tool worked Now I have to decide which modded BIOS to use Thanks again
andy is there a way to dump a bios off a machine that is to new they dont have the bios available yet?
