Seems the be a notebook style BIOS (where RSDT size in module is 0, and 3 dynamically inserted SSDT tables). However there is a BOOT table and this is overwriting the final location for the SLIC. The mod with 1.21 tool, which just put the SLIC address there anyway, failed. I have asked apokrif for input. Bear with me. Andy
Hi NotAGooner Can u please upload the moded bios for sony vgn-ns20j as I try to activate the win7 but I can't. Thank you
Thanks Andy. I already modified the RW report per a previous post and was able to create a modded BIOS that works but I will try it again with ver 1.23
Hi.. I'd like to make a feature request: As a dynamic mod option, when more than one full slic table is detected in the original bios, the option to clear (zero-out) the table that is not referenced in the RW report. I've been trying to do this manually myself, but the tool apparently doesn't use the DUMP folder for the duration of the process, but refers again to the source bios.
It should do, you ticked option to allow manual modification and get the dialog box?? Which type of BIOS?? Andy
Hi Does anybody know how important the BOOT and MCFG tables are??? All the addresses to the various ACPI tables seem to be inserted into the RSDT before it is copied, so there is no space there to sneak the SLIC in. I should be relatively easy to NOP out the code that puts the offset of either of the above 2 tables and leave the SLIC address there instead. BOOT appears to possibly have something to do with PnP. I am not sure about MCFG. Andy
Hi, I posted out in the main Bios Mods section, but haven't got a reply there yet. That's OK, only I'd like to try to get this machine rebuilt this weekend, so excuse my posting here in case someone here sees it and can offer to help. I have flashed the latest BIOS for my board and then modded the same BIOS with the latest RWE and PhoenixTool122. It all goes OK, however, when I flash it and check the results with SLIC_Toolkit, it says RDST: GATEWAM, PubKey:ACRSYSACRPRDCT and Marker:ACRSYSACRPRDCT (I chose an Acer SLIC). The BIOS that I got from Intel for the board, references Gateway (GATEWA/M - OEM/Table ID) everywhere, which seems odd, as this is the BIOS for many OEM chassis. I notice also, that in the advanced section of PhoenixTool122, there are options that relate to only updating the RDST field etc, but it's a bit of a minefield in there for me TBH and I don't want to F*** anything up Can some kind person please give me some pointers to I can get my BIOS to have a valid SLIC?
Nice tool, too bad that it cannot unlock ASUS BIOS or get around the lock . The XSDT is obscured in Everest.
Hi andyp, Did you get that RWE report OK? Out in the other thread in the main Bios Mods section, openfly posted a link to another mod of this BIOS which includes a valid Advent SLIC, though he says he is unsure how the modder did it.
