Andy, I am certain that the oldest Dell HDR file I ever found was a Phoenix style bios with a HDR ($RBU) format instead of the Platform data contained in the *.WPH file (I remember even managing to edit the file in such a way the PBE was able to recognise it and open it - can't remember for sure, I think I may have just swapped the Rom proper into a wph file? something of the sort). I do not know enough to say how long it took to progress from that to the latest Dell compression algorithms or how many steps in between but I suspect if someone knew the compression and structure of the phoenix bioses well enough to compare the two (maybe since the Phoenix bios is far more widely used)... If I get a chance in the coming weeks I may be able to play around and recreate that...
In fact I even prepared a mod for the Inspiron 1000 with one of the tool's release candidates that did not require a rw file... just using the hdr file it was recognised and parsed as a phoenix bios (did not fix checksums of course), I did not post it of course but I do still have it, lol I really suspect that if one knew both they may be able to see a logical progression between the two..

Hey. Great to see you around again.

Interesting idea. I will have a play.

You mean the AcpiTbls.rw inside the AcpiTbls.zip is a binary??!? I can open it in notepad tho? Isnt that a text then?

That is what it appeared to me, something is wrong, unless my download or your upload became very corrupt. I tried modding your bios using my RW from the Inspiron 6000 (appears to have same values) with the latest tool (1.31)and got the successful message at the end! Everything up to that point seems identical to your log file does it not? All the tables are identical, it appears to me to mod fine

Do you mind to send me your RW so i can compare?

I also got weird result when running latest tool (1.31) on 2 different machines, both are winxp, when loading SLIC File (no matter any brands), one of them keep on saying "Unable to verify SLIC digital signature" but the other machine verified successfully. Is there any particular thing that I need to look out for?

Appreciate a lot for your help.

    Works here as well.
SLIC digital signature verification needs .NET 3.5 SP1

Thank you so much, the verification works with .NET 3.5 SP1 indeed.

No, never made any changes whatsoever... and since I used the rw that you supplied... I dunno.. do you suppose your original hdr is corrupt somehow? If you have a compare program such as beyond compare I could upload mine for you but that seems highly unlikely to me... I.m using Win7 x64.. Glad it worked for you tho, enjoy!
