Well, can you share your working vista sidebar and alky in PM? The one from your 1000 gadgets link is actually 8GadgetPack and it doesn't work on XP.
@George King Well, I just checked. Dell Vostro 15 3535 laptop with a Ryzen 7 7730U cpu. It doesn't have anything even remotely resembling CSM in the bios. Both with secure boot enabled and disabled.
Probably does, but I only had access to this one dell as it was on display so I could turn it on and see. Sadly I can't pick a random HP or Acer or w/e other brand laptop's box, I'd have to actually pay for it.
Even if newer hardware would not have newer drivers for gpu's for desktop you could just find a working videocard, GTX 750ti is a great, cheap, available, R7 260x R9 270/270X, R9 280x etc. And the beast Quadro M6000/GTX Titan X!
About Sidebar for 5.2. I have managed to run it on all systems. But it require a lot of work to rebuild it in all languages. For now we know its doable and it will be included. But other languages probably in future releases due amount of manual work. But good is I have managed also to get Settings option to work too. And Windows Sidebar Styler works too, I will collect all possible themes and repack that MSI installer to fit my needs.
@Gelip these steps are fully automated in my testing build. I will check my EFI status tomorrow and send you latest installer. I think it's almost done, but I'm missing some step as I can't boot my testing machine right now under UEFI..
According to Windows Sidebar addon. In Sidebar.exe.mui I have removed VersionInfo and in all Dialogs was replaced Segoe UI font with default system font, which means now should look Sidebar more native when using various system themes. Now I need to repatch 15 remainings EXEs and another sidequest done.
Try to use WinDBG from a second computer onto the target computer to find the root cause of the BSOD, watch WinDBG tutorials if you don't know how to do it.
I don't have time to burn it in debuging UEFI which is NOT in 1.7 priorities! You or other enthousiast will find way how to fix my UEFI mechanims, when you receive testing ISO. There are still many common things that must be done... Even my progress looks fine, it's still slow. But most important things seems to be read due a lot of testing on real machines..
