    Heyho,
Happy new 2024 and stuff. :holiday:

    How is the progress?
What problems exactly are left to solve before 1.7 release?
When we can expect a 1.7 release so far, approximately?

    Greetings

No offense but please try to use another translator like Yandex Translate because this translation is innacurate.

Forget about XP not being supported, the shocking thing is that Google translated this.

It is a very special rare case, yes. Mostly just for any nostalgic and native support of some games that time. Not really a need for it longer as few days to be honest.
In my case I just needed a win-based system that runs with absolute minimal requirements in a vm. Soon I get a new computer, so I don't need it any more either.

For translation I can recommend: Deepl.com.

    Greetings.

    Any information? @George King

    Since months you say "close"/"soon".
I guess new release will never come out...

Anyway, was a nice idea, some of it was useful, but too many bugs.
    Greetings.

GPU will be issue. For XP you can get 980 Ti as latest possible one from same family as 960 which have original driver support.

Buy secondary GPU for XP gaming

I think its R9 280X. I still have not bought it to give it a try.

I will prepare instructions for building modern machine with huge list of supported GPUs.

My main machine have 4060 Ti, running XP is no problem. Problem is using GPU. There is no driver usable for gaming, so find 980 Ti or older to be sure you can use XP for gaming or other things where you need GPU

Speaking of compatible HW, do you know if there is any patched driver for the Intel Wireless card AC 72xx or AC 82xx for XP (and Vista), they are far from being the latest novelties (something like 2012/2013) but (after a quick search) doesn't seem there is any workable driver

OOOOOH and one last question about Disk drives
I have one NVME drive which is GPT and 2 Standard HDDs
One of them is 8TB and is GPT formated the second one was GPT i reformated it into MBR and is 3TB
I plan on installing The XP system on the 3TB drive. The question is will there be a problem installing on the 3TB drive since
it is formatted in MBR format it got split in 2 parts 2047GB is the 1st part and an empty 746GB allocated space

Great Work on making this possible and all...but...Windows XP is useless these days. There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to be using Windows XP for real, everyday purposes. And, the compatibility layer built into Windows 7 works to run XP programs perfectly so even to run old programs is not a good enough excuse.

Windows 7 would be a better candidate for this, if the goal is to keep a completely dead OS working on modern hardware. But, on my Dell supporting both CSM and pure UEFI, UEFISeven still doesn't get Windows 7 booting for me, neither do any of the KabyLake Update tools out there.

I just really can't understand why all this work for novelty, and not even guaranteed novelty, but that's just me.

@stayboogy Be sure there is a a lot of reasons for running XP on real machine. Of course not for using it online for serious things like shopping etc. Real purpose is to be able to install XP on any machine that allow it - CSM these days.

P.S. My early 2003 machine still won't die, should I kill it? No, just multiboot XP and 7 forever to use it for it was born. And when I love that system why not run it on modern board? I just bought brand new XP compatible NVIDIA GPU in 2024, so why not? :)
