I mean the construction that makes "XP2ESD" that in previous versions used the boot of win7 + compatibility with esd ported from win10 ... but it was supposed that it would not support WinXP x64 so I ask, is it now possible?
I'm close to release it Testing on real machines is in progress Finally seems good on my side on both x86 and x64 build
@George King Can I dual boot XP2ESD with Windows 7 (both x86 as CPU doesn't support x64)? Both are in MBR mode, and 7 is already installed. Will it break bootloader?
Yes, you can do it with all newer Windows. Just install XP using XP2ESD first. XP2ESD use bootmgr + BCD + legacy NTLDR option. So it should work. I will try same scenario soon on my testing machine. To all - I finally solved crucial issues with ported drivers installing! Now only one problem (hopefully only one) remain - ported drivers on Server 2003 needs different ntoskrn8.sys. So it's time to adapt INF for both systems.. Then I think I have everything in main XP2ESD ready (UpdatePacks still not done, but they can be released after main tool release)
You would have to set the partition with the Windows 7 bootmgr as active and create an entry for chainloading ntldr (windows xp bootloader) in the boot manager's boot configuration data. if xp2esd 1.6 supports it, you would create an entry that points to windows xp's winload.exe
