Very soon ---- > ChangeLog update # Version 2.1.2 - Support for DoH over HTTP/3 (DoH3, HTTP over QUIC) has been added. Compatible servers will automatically use it. Note that QUIC uses UDP (usually over port 443, like DNSCrypt) instead of TCP. - In previous versions, memory usage kept growing due to channels not being properly closed, causing goroutines to pile up. This was fixed, resulting in an important reduction of memory usage. Thanks to @lifenjoiner for investigating and fixing this! - DNS64: `CNAME` records are now translated like other responses. Thanks to @ignoramous for this! - A relay whose name has been configured, but doesn't exist in the list of available relays is now a hard error. Thanks to @lifenjoiner! - Mutexes/locking: bug fixes and improvements, by @ignoramous - Official packages now include linux/riscv64 builds. - `dnscrypt-proxy -resolve` now reports if ECS (EDNS-clientsubnet) is supported by the server. - `dnscrypt-proxy -list` now includes ODoH (Oblivious DoH) servers. - Local DoH: queries made using the `GET` method are now handled. - The service can now be installed on OpenRC-based systems. - `PTR` queries are now supported for cloaked domains. Contributed by Ian Bashford, thanks! https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy
DNSCrypt / dnscrypt-proxy Release 2.1.2 ---- > https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/releases/tag/2.1.2
Hello there, what do you all think about Portmaster from Safing.io? Especially the SPN function looks much promising to me! It's a Firewall Application / Network Monitor, it blocks tracking and routes all traffic through DNS-over-TLS. When someone gets the Paid Version, then there is this SPN! It's developed from them and they say it is better than VPN. It allows per App Multiple Identities and it is more like Tor, than a VPN from privacy side. Here they compare SPN vs VPN: https://safing.io/blog/2022/09/06/spn-vs-vpns/ Maybe someone is interested, so i post it...
Why pull this distribution that weighs 1 gigabyte? What for? When you can just use NextDNS + VPN If you really want to create a chain of proxy servers + VPN + PFsense + NextDNS
Sure, but isn't it a good "all in one" solution, especially for beginners or not this advanced users? Your setup requires some more knowledge, access to good (paid?)proxy servers, (paid?) VPN and an extra Device running PfSense, to achieve much the same? For me it sounds much promising, you don't have to provide real name at sign-up, anonymous payment possible using Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero as well as sending cash (Euros) in a letter. Decentralised Network, Onion Routing, multiple ID's per App and so on... Here this is a part of their explanation about the privacy aspect from SPN compared to VPN: and Source: https://safing.io/blog/2022/09/06/spn-vs-vpns/ Plus that it has the standard things from the free Version, like blocking ads, trackers and malware system-wide, a firewall and setting of DNS-over-TLS provider of your choice. I search since longer time for a VPN, but somehow i don't trust any of them. Then i saw their product and it looks really good to me! I haven't used it yet, because I'm not sure if it's really worth it. So i posted it so i can hear other peoples thoughts on it!
iPhone preserves your privacy? Well... https://gizmodo.com/apple-iphone-privacy-dsid-analytics-personal-data-test-1849807619 https://gizmodo.com/apple-iphone-analytics-tracking-even-when-off-app-store-1849757558
Well.. the free-version just offers a DNS. Unlimited Paid looks good, but... yeah.. since no service ever anywhere anymore offers an anonymous payment method.. nothing really worth. . Same I thought... apple and respect anything at all... just LOL
DNSCrypt / dnscrypt-proxy Release 2.1.3 https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/releases/tag/2.1.3
The only true privacy that is left is what's in your head and who knows one day they might be able to read that out with some kind of mind reading machine.
I dont make any claims about DNSCrypt , and i dont recomend it ............ I posted it for information value ............ and maybe members can tell us their experience , thoughts and questions .
After I installed VPN - the letters from "providers" of the internet services (about possible "breaches" of copyright law etc.) stopped coming. 1) One needs a good router/modem with a firewall etc. Linux guys make FW for such machines... 2) A good *security suite" is a must, I think. I use Kaspersky Total Security. Around Xmass one can get 2 years of protection for 10 devices (it works on MS, iMac, iPad, iPhone, Droid) for the whole family at bargain prices (some £30+, which is nothing, really!). 3) VPN, too! I use Surfshark, which is cheap but one can have unlimited devices individually protected (not via modem/router), for less than £2 per month. 4) Then, you can configure your extras... State, corporate, group and individual criminals with bad intentions are about... It's not difficult, FCOL...
Sadly it is real already and people doing it by own will: Whole social media sharing of thoughts, and it is already used for AI for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChatGPT?useskin=vector Several messenger-chats are already readable (in addition, someone remember the win10 keylogger? or the fact that everything in edge is send to Microsoft?) Social engineering is the most dangerous thread ever. Better using 2 (or better more) different in combination (multi-hop): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_proxy?useskin=vector#Use_of_multiple_relays
DNSCrypt 2.1.4 Fixes a regression from version 2.1.3: when cloaking was enabled, blocked responses were returned for records that were not A/AAAA/PTR even for names not in the cloaked list. https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/releases/tag/2.1.4
