Trigger for a-0001.a-msedge.net

    Not sure if everyone is getting this, but if I use 'Search Windows', my PC always attempts to contact a-0001.a-msedge.net (seen and blocked by Peerblock). Cortana has been disabled on this machine, but it still tries to connect.

    by default, Windows Search searches Bing as well as local

    Yes, it makes a connection even if you disable Cortana, Bing searches, etc. I didn't care to look into it further before blocking indiscriminately. I doubt PeerBlock will catch all IPs they use, though, so be aware of that.
