    Ok,

I have a toshiba Laptop. The bios is already equiped with slic 2.1 from the factory. Now... I thought I understood that I just copied the toshiba cert to the HD and updated the product key and initiated an actiavtion... However, I am now seeing that there are FOUR different Toshiba Certs! Which one do I use to properly activate and WHY are there so many??

Because for some reason Toshiba uses different OEMID in SLIC on different machines. So just choose the one that corresponds with yours (TOSINV, TOSQCI or whatever it is).

And how did you check that you have slic 2.1? Well, for example Everest will show OEMID in SLIC and other ACPI tables. RW everything is suitable as well.

Originally my laptop had NO slic 2.1 but had slic 2.0. Recently I went to my Laptops upgrade download page and found out there was a major BIOS release and one of the things listed was the inclusion of slic 2.1. I had my BIOS flashed to a HACKED bios prior to installing this update. The Hacked BIOS I flashed for my Laptop included the PROPER cert already in the zip. The cert was just name Toshiba.xrm-ms NO other new names like now. I did not know those new cert types existed. SO I when I found out there was a major BIOS release I decided to download and flash the unhacked new BIOS onto the laptop that was activated already with the previous cert. Now... I have no idea what type of OEMID I have in my new BIOS and am not sure how to identify it. My PC still seems activated... but since the cert is not identified in name I have no idea if it is PROPERLY activated and what the real one to use is for my knowledge. Thanks for the help!

OK, Please someone answer this... I opened RW Everything that checks for Slic 2.1 and I see the 4 number set are correct for 2.1 slic; Now that's all I know this utility is for is checking those 4 number sets to see that you have slic 2.1. Now I see at the top of the RW Everything dump:

    53 4C 49 43 76 01 00 00 01 D2 54 4F 53 49 4E 56SLICv.....TOSINV
    54 4F 53 49 4E 56 30 30 01 00 00 00 4D 53 46 54TOSINV00....MSFT

SO... the TOSINV is the OEMID???

I know the name matches one of the certs now, but is that correct to say that is the OEMID?

    Thanks!
