I don't quite understand the inner workings of the activation. I'll try to ask the question in a clearer way. Would modifying data.dat and tokens.dat files like that introduce any security risks? For instance making my windows or office installation a part of computer network? Like volume licensing and possibly giving access to the person who manages it or to whomever its stolen (if) from?
No and no. These files are locally modified; there is no online connection to any 3rd party. By the way, KMS activation (offline/online) is safe as well, people can't remotely manage your system or have access to it just because you used KMS activation.
It just has a weird physical store, and osppsvc's warbird is strong enough that none of us are very motivated to analyze it.
So, this method is safer than KMS, because it doesn't contact online servers or needs to exclude files on antivirus; and HWID, because this don't contact MS servers for activation
The original KMS_VL_ALL also doesn't contact online servers with the default settings. In case of MAS, HWID (when supported by the OS) is still preferred over TSForge afaik (last time i asked WA),
osppsvc C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform @Windows_Addict
The post you are replying is the lead developer of TSforge, he knows a lot better about it. It was said pretty clearly, it's not easy to crack and there isn't much interest, take that for an answer and don't spam mentions
But dear friend, you can use Windows 8.1 (that I personally liked much more than Windows 7), install Office 2016 (version 2019+ requires Win10 v1809), and use TSforge. Also, with Bypass for Windows 8.1 you still have updates. Or, you can simply install Win10-LTSC and use the latest Office 2024 (of course using TSforge). I don't know why you really want to use Windows 7. Even if it was a very good OS, you can achieve almost the same stability with Win10-LTSC.
Hi, thanks for the tool. I usually use HWID to activate windows and then create a backup of the activation just in case I need to activate the system offline after a reinstall. I'd like to know if the TSForge activation for office 24 can be backuped too, like when is done with a MAK key activation. Thanks.
KMS_VL_ALL or KMS38 are offline activations, and why would you need to activate it offline anyway? Ohook is offline activation. TSForge is a good option for those SKUs who can't be activated by KMS(_VL_ALL) or KMS38 or HWID and for office that can't be activated by ohook. And it is handy for the extra 3 years of ESU updates for windows 10 non LTSC.
