The OS themselves are unusable, they hang, can't restart etc SBS 2008 hangs just trying TSforge /dump, shutdown doesn't even work, it takes more than 20 minutes SBS 2011 can't even run slmgr -dli, hangs on 7zip install
Latest, VMware-workstation-full-17.6.3-24583834.exe, latest 17.5 compatibility layer. I will try with 9.0 on VM creation
VMWare 17.6 doesnt play nice with older versions from my experience, you can try downgrading to 17.5.2 if you still encounter issues
I know it's probably a lot out of scope but how possible would a version be for even pre-release versions of Windows, e.g. Vista 5744 RC2?
Try with /ver vista. Generally we don't try to support beta versions before 8.1 because the internal data formats were very volatile during development.
Wasn't Win7 Pre 7000 timebombed anyway? Maybe that's why it stays unlicensed? Old picture with timebomb visible.
I have to ask... Why so much energy spent on getting activation working on versions that are soooo old ? Server 2008, 2012, and Vista What am I missing ?
A certain phenomenon called "doing things for fun" Plus, it's helpful for things like preservation, getting old machines working, etc.
Forgot about timebombs, with correct BIOS and no VMware tools (they force time sync to host even if you just select display drivers), it works! I will try more builds, this is fun heh
