Surely it can't be as simple as integrating only 2 files for service stack and cumulative updates.

Whatever is used, always nice to be able to fit it on a FAT32 USB for Legacy Bios and UEFI compatibility.
Why didn't you use 'maximum' option for best compression? MS says: Can you please tell me what is push-button image and why do we use it (recovery) to export an image to a new wim file instead of using maximum option which provides the best compression?
OK. I just wanted to know if using 'recovery' switch was correct in case of exporting index to WIM (W8.1/10).
You can use solid (LZMS/ESD) compression. People should be warned that going over ~15 indexes will start to create problems, especially if you integrate updates. The last project I ever worked on, I never released. It was a 106in1 superaio that had all the en-us windows and server versions. The more files that are modified, the harder it is for an AIO to not have problems, but even without modifications there is a limit to the amount of information it can process without error.
