    Hello.

I recently bought a new computer for home office use.

    It's a comet lake i3 10100 and MSI B460M Pro.

My RAM was two 8GB hyperx (HX426C16FB/8).

When these two stick are atached i always have BSOD's. When i remove either one of the ram, it would work fine.

Now i replaced the entire RAM with a crucial ballistix kit (2x8GB). They are now working fine.

I would like to know what is the cause of the incompatibility of the two non-kit RAMs. Why is it causing BSOD?

Could be a issue with the ram modules themselves also have to check does your machine uses low density memory or high density memory.

Check them properly. One of the modules is faulty. Try to test them one by one. You can even add one of the crucial RAMs to the no-kit to see what happens and know the causes of the problem.

Follow the advice given by Hadron and Memtest them individually. Yes it takes a wee bit time but it will find if there are any problems within the modules. Also try cleaning the contacts with isopropyl alcohol as even a dirty contact can give errors.

Then it could be a issue with your MOBO

Your ram might need to be split up. A lot of motherboards require the ram to be split. Try putting 1 stick in slot one and the other one in the 3rd slot.
    wish you luck.

I have "HyperX Impact" in MSI myself. 4x16GB (KHX2400C14S4/16G) they work in dual channel. In fact, they are two different pairs.

    2x Samsung 8 Gb B-die (Boltzmann / 20 nm) / 1 die
    2x Hynix 8 Gb J-die (Alius / 18 nm) / 1 die

It's hard to explain for me, I don't know English well.... My theory: Kingston uses RAM from different chips (Samsung / Hynix /?) For its modules, and sells it as one model (e.g. KHX2400C14S4 / 16G). hmm

    KHX2400C14S4 / 16G (Samsung 8 Gb B-die) + KHX2400C14S4 / 16G (Samsung 8 Gb B-die) = Dual Channel
    KHX2400C14S4 / 16G (Hynix 8 Gb J-die) + KHX2400C14S4 / 16G (Samsung 8 Gb B-die) = Only 2x Single Channel (Non Dual Channel)
    KHX2400C14S4 / 16G (Hynix 8 Gb J-die) + KHX2400C14S4 / 16G (Hynix 8 Gb J-die) = Dual Channel

    [EDIT]

Kingston uses RAM from different manufacturers. (Samsung / Hynix / ?) In theory you could end up with the same model RAM with different manufacturer internals. Samsung + Samsung works dual channel, Samsung + Hynix will work single channel only.
