lol yes, this should have been closed the moment he started calling the people who posted to help him "lazy". And you don't need to convert the usb key used to installed Windows 8 to GPT. I did that once to install Windows 7 in UEFI, the stupid install wrote the bootloader on the key and kept asking for the it to boot. not sure if it was related but it was funny. I call everything data related "junk", it's not just yours. I insist with diskpart because I never saw the GUI install offer the "convert to GPT" option, so in the doubt using this way I'm sure you don't run into disk format problem and get your disk converted to GPT before installing. Again, I never insisted to do it "my way", it's just a way I know works for sure to install in UEFI mode without problem.. Other people gave you other ways as well to install in UEFI. follow the one you like. Now, if you want to keep doing it "your way", sure. See ya next year.
Why convert the USB key to GPT? I though that UEFI standard needed the HDD Drive to be Allocated as GPT. First i thank you for the detailed help you have given me. Still no "UEFI:xxx" boot option It turned out it was and it had 9 partitions as GParted showed to me(one if them being unidentified) before wiping them all out. Technet says 4 at default and 5 at recommended, so why 9 for me and 1 being unidentified? Wasn't aware of that back then, otherwise i would have tried it before wiping everything out. ===================== Now, before i start another Win8 Setup installation and set it up and setup programs on that one which also need setup i must know: a) Is there a way to convert my current MBR drive => GPT drive so i i wont lose my mp3/music/videos/documents ? b) Why use Shrink C:\ after the installation proccess and opposed of Remove ALL partitions hence a big unallocated space be created Click "New" on that, so that hopefully(will it work like that?) the default 4 EFI partition layout will appear. Delete the [Windows Partition] UEFI Setup created and make [50 MB Windows Partition][Rest Space Data Partition] ? That way i can have both default EFI partitioning and *my way* addition portioning too. c) Will Motherboard's bios insert automatically the OEM's product serial number to the Win8 Setup proccess when it will require the serial number from me prior of installing? =================== Need a detailed answer to everything before i start the UEFI Setup. I will only answer to serious detailed explained posts.
And where should i save my "150 MB files" if i do that? i have 3 USB flash drives (4, 8, 32MB) as backup Media........not enough. Converitng MBR => GPT would help avoid losing my precious junk data.
BUG OUT Dickhead. Try to answer WHY the "improvement, which it would be very convenient for me, wont work(as you say) instead of calling me ferrous cranus. This is the last reply you and other !@#$% will get for me if i see such attitude. And ALSO, i need a reply to EVERYTHING i make a time effortt to ask based on previous answers provided(and the docs cant help at the situation is at the moment)
an·swer [an-ser, ahn-] noun 1. a spoken or written reply or response to a question, request, letter, etc.: He sent an answer to my letter promptly. 2. a correct response to a question asked to test one's knowledge. 3. an equivalent or approximation: a singing group that tried to be the French answer to the Beatles. 4. an action serving as a reply or response: The answer was a volley of fire. 5. a solution to a problem, especially in mathematics.
Thank GOD some members of MDL do NOT think in the "arrogant" way you do and also appear to know much better, when i ask them WHY the solution provided by their aspect view might/will work. Your "arrogance" FAIL to be justified........much like Chris34's too in less degree. ps. and yes i make typos when i need to quickly explain my logistics to you and chris34.

a) How you know for sure? b) "Why use Shrink C:\ after the installation proccess and opposed of Remove ALL partitions hence a big unallocated space be created Click "New" on that, so that hopefully(will it work like that?) the default 4 EFI partition layout will appear. Delete the [Windows Partition] UEFI Setup created and make [50 MB Windows Partition][Rest Space Data Partition] ?" In what exact point would the above process i metnioned as an "improvement" will be fsck'ed? c) Well i remember it didnt..... but Docs says otherwise: "If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a machine that came with Windows 8, the installation process automatically grabs the software product key from the motherboard BIOS with no input from the user." has to reinstall the operating system on a machine that came with Windows 8, the installation process automatically grabs the software product key from the motherboard BIOS with no input from the user Does the embedded Serial Number of the Mobo Bios will work for ANY Windows version i may try to install at a later time? Win8 Core Win8 Pro Win8 Pro with WMC and for both x32 and x64 versions? and for both Legacy and UEFI installations?
the key should only work with the same version that was installed on your computer when you got it. Don't include a Ei.cfg and let windows pick the serial from the bios/uefi and install the correct version, if I well understood. if you want UEFI you need 64bits... don't tell us you've been trying to install a x86 version in UEFI this whole time?
When exactly did i denied my thoughts, feelings? Are you a Therapist? Hell, you don't even provide correct support. Make an effort finding this article in Greek letters so i can understand it better to see if it applies to me. Also: In your trying to help me out several times you posted non-working help(like pressing F8 to get a Boot Menu and in many other cases of false help). You need to start reading documentation-links too.
Dude you must be the biggest failer on this forum, this crap thread now has 200 replies.. and it has yet to go anywhere.... Too stupid. Why should others google for you? You seriously deserve a ban.
dude, like I'm going to make the extra step to find what key pops the boot menu for your laptop when you're acting like an ass. RTFM yourself
