    Solved

    (Sort of)

Installing W7 Pro OEM (new build) in UEFI mode on ASROck Z97
Extreme 6 with P2.30 UEFI firmware.

Install repeatedly failed from any DVD or .iso image. Latest Rufus
2.2 used. A combination of wrong UEFI settings and hardware
interoperability issues. I eventually installed W7 Pro from DVD not
    .iso image via Rufus 2.2.

My UEFI settings in this thread that worked were were
    - UEFI Defaults Press F9, then I checked
    - Primary Graphics Adapter - ONBOARD
    - Legacy USB Support - UEFI SETUP ONLY
    - Secure Boot - DISABLED

Now the main problem was some hardware (ongoing) issue between
the W7 install software and the mice used to effect the install.

Mouse 1 - Logitech Anywhere mx
    Mouse 2 - Logitech Performance

These 2 mice are wireless and receivers were alternatively plugged
into USB2 & USB3 on Fractal Design 4 case. Both these mice functioned as expected until arriving at the W7 install ' Accept Licence Terms ' screen of both .iso and DVD installs. The cursor would move as expected on the screen, in response to mouse movements, but ANY mouse click would hang the system rendering all input devices useless.

I had to use a keyboard only install ALT + 'key' to input all installation choices from the keyboard ( also logitech but wired) and ignore the malfunctioning mice.

    This kludge worked.

If you want to do any work in removing failed installs, applying GPT
format to the target disk (a must for UEFI), changing or deleting
Volumes/Partitions you will need access to another machine in which
to install & edit the disk. The ALT key is not available to apply those
operations (mouse only) in a W7 Pro install process.

I ordered a £10 tech net mouse from Amazon UK to replace the
expensive Logitech mice (that still freeze) on this machine. So far it
    works just fine.

Does anyone know of a Bootable UEFI USB stick that runs MS DOS
utilities ? This would have saved a lot of time.

Thank you contributors here and ASRock Netherlands.

It wasn't that long ago I formatted a USB drive with FreeDos or MS Dos utilities (FAT32) that would boot up and enable you to access drives connected to the machine - notably to use diskpart & xcopy. As far as I can tell there is no way to prepare a USB boot drive for a UEFI only motherboard....please tell me I'm wrong ...I couldn't find a USB boot drive for DOS utilities to work in a UEFI world.

For Windows 7 you should have just stuck to legacy. The only reason you'd need to use uefi is if your primary drive was bigger than 2tb. Then you'd need uefi which supports gpt partition installation.
Dos doesn't have diskpart, it has fdisk. You could boot into winpe or winre for diskpart. Boot your install ISO, press shift+f10 to get command prompt then run diskpart.
Why would you want to anyway? To use the clean command to wipe the drive??

Yes. i wanted clean drives for W7.
To test the integrity of the Hardware build, having failed with all w7 media, I loaded up Ubuntu 14.04.
After the download, Ubuntu was installed in less that 3 minutes.Yes 3 minutes....and I couldn't even get W7 up in 3 days.

I think I made a rod for my own back w7 GPT install did not appear to like Grub 2. Hence need to wipe.

Maybe I'm missing something but I do not see any references to non UEFI settings in Asus Z97 P2.30 firmware.

There's just something not right with the ISOs them selfs I think the modded ones some people provided have integrated fix inside, it was quite a mess I remember I did so much research prior to putting it on, I did this PC in april 2013 and it was a full DIY process and I really wanted to be nice, clean and super sure so it took me like 3 weeks to a month to get it all set up (including drivers, initial config, bios configs etc)
