Well then, the Vista OEM:SLP keys were not leaked until systems had actually been manufactured, if I remember correctly. In this case, they could kill the key with a future update, unless whoever it belongs to has already ordered a few thousand of their custom reinstall media. Until systems using the key are in the hands of customers, anything is possible. Of course, other keys will likely be leaked long before such an update could be released.
lol they were saying the same thing about vista for how long?? i used vista since day one on many systems with modded bios' or very early the vista loaders.. never once had it shut down and even now vistaloader 3.0.1 still works fine and passes vista genuine tool.. lol
i agree i think this key *could* be shut down eventually but by that time there will be lots of keys and prob new certs to pick from
They cant kill whay they cant see.. MS has nothing to do with OEM SLP keys in terms of "killing it" the are used to widely install and activate OEM systems such as Dell, HP, etc.. not one SLP key has ever been "killed" nor will they EVER
bios modded manually slic 2.0 HP > replacement to 2.1 HP can not test myself ... but my HP DV9500 updated to 2.1 with same method is OK and activate win7 PM me if you want the link ...
heh just skip entering in a key at that point. then open command prompt as adminstrator and type; slmgr.vbs -ipk *****-*****-*****-*****-***** whatever your key is = ****
I have the Asus M3A78-EM, Slic 2.1 HP, still 30 days to activate. I just changed it to ACPI 2.0 and still the same thing.
I have patched many pcs myself with the ami and award tool and i've managed to get all my pcs activated without problems. So i'm quite comfortable with how this is done. I have a question. My Laptop is a HP 6830s and it came with Vista Business, but I managed to get it to run Vista Ultimate with just a reinstall + cert & leaked HP Ultimate key. So that makes me assume the bios is Slic 2.0 at least. But when I try to activate my laptop with win7 + cert + leaked key, it refuses to get activated. My HP was bought just a few weeks ago and it is also covered by HPs Vista upgrade program, just not where I live but in the States. So that makes me believe the bios is Slic2.1. Is there anyway to actually check what Slic my bios has? I've also read in this thread that i am not the only one with a branded HP laptop who cannot get w7 activated. I'd prefer not to use a loader because that usually doesnt go well with S3 Standby. Any tips? Thanks guys
Now why would I do that when Win 7 is already activated after installation?!? It's redundant I already placed the certificate in the $OEM$ folder in the sources folder. What we are talking about here is the PID and ei.cfg - which does not work, ergo the typing of the key
Urh. Ive had no end of pain. First time ive tried this but no luck at all. Using a HP TX2 Laptop. Unable to flash with slic 2.1 due to InsydeH20 Rev 3.5 not allowing complete flash. Unable to even enter/change to OEM key on Windows 7 Ultimate install. Also spent 2 days reading yet nobodys been truely clear on where to place certificate as ive tried from C: drive root and i keep getting an error saying about non core windows. Is there something really obvious i am missing? *Dont worry. I just used a boot loader and in seconds everything worked fine. Gona reinstall a fresh retail proffesional copy anyways when it turns up in october.*
I think it's something wrong with Asus's bios. I just opened the ACPI tab in RW utility, and I don't see the SLIC tab. what could be the problem? I already enable ACPI 2.0 in the bios. Do I need to turn on SLIC on bios?
