ACER SLIC 2.1 and old ACER certificate do not match, you need a new Certificate, search for: "pubkeycompare.exe"
And this helps us Acer users how...? We need a new certificate like you said, and yet you want us to use a program to check existing ones?
Read through the forums, it's like getting an education, one shouldn't be looking for easy shortcuts. This forum is a treasure house of all info that is reqd, but one needs to apply oneself. Info on this forum has helped me mod bios right from the early dynamic asus slic, through to using the automated award and ami tools. And also helped me understand how to mod the newer hp bios using the insyde h2o tool. People like Yen and others make this a wonderful place to learn. As regards to your question, if you'd read through the various threads you'll find that the acer 2.1 slic is signed with a new digital signature, while most of the other manufacturers have used their old ones. The result is that the license cert reqd must also be signed using the same sig for it to cryptographically match. Those who have acer slic v2.1 will require new certs even for Vista. If you wish to have Win7 activated now, have your bios modded to have another oem slic 2.1 and use the corresponding cert. Or wait for the acer 2.1 cert.
Hey Freestyler, where did you find an ACER SLIC 2.1 mod for your bios? Sorry, forget this, I was confusing ACER w ASUS
Jap, we all remember. And this key was leaked so long before the public release. And by whom? There are no systems out there using this key. Perhaps it's just a big net to catch big fish in
The ACER 2.1 SLIC BIN is in the 2.1 bin thread, but it is of no use until the new ACER cert is leaked, and I'm guessing this probably won't happen until first Acer machines come pre-loaded with Win 7.
For those of you who used a Dell Slic 2.1 along with a Dell cert, which Slic 2.1 did you use from the thread of Slic bin's? Does it matter which one of those Dell Slic 2.1's is used? And the dell cert in the vista cert thread...that is the only dell cert that there is, am i right?
Hi, If I want to try mod my bios myself ( I know I can post and get someone else to do it), can I just take the slic2.0 bios previously posted and change the 2 bytes that are different? If not where can I get a copy of the new slic table, and can I follow the tutorial for the old vista SLIC insert ? cheers
No they won't work. Why you have to do so, if there are slic 2.1 you can use and be careful flashing your bios is always risky.
Activated 3 computers with SLIC 2.1 (DELL) modified BIOS + DELL certificate for Vista + this key. Thanks!
Ok so I have modified my bios to SLIC 2.1 (DELL) ... Now just to make sure I understand everything, the activation is done by: -Flashing modified bios -Activate using SLP OEM key That's it? No need to install anything right?
open cmd as administrator then type: slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\dell.xmr-ms don't forget to use real path to certificate instead of C:\dell.xmr-ms
Ok perfect thanks I will try that and I have one last question... I think I have the retail version of Windows 7 so do I need to convert it to OEM before doing all this?
Ok soo... 1-Flash SLIC2.1 Bios (DELL) 2-Install Dell certificate 3-Activate using SLP OEM key That's it right? Sorry to bother you guys I just want to make this right
