Good point. The % of people who actually do flash their motherboard BIOS is probably very very small compared to the user base of Windows. However, maybe they'll design WGA to catch the boot loader users.
This thing (boot loader) has been around since March of 2007... why would they bother now? It's "external" to OS application, so they don't feel comfortable to deal with it. Timerstopper and paradox were "internal" (located inside OS) cracks, so they eventually disabled these two.
boot loader are now in the 100meg partion and ms made that change for something vista don't have it you can find the loade faster now in seven wga maybe made to look there for it and tell user that it is there and to fix it
They just added the recovery partition to the physical drive as opposed to making the user burn a special recovery CD. It just so happens that it's easier to manage any problems with booting by sticking the boot manager in that partition and not the main system partition. Either way, the boot loader is an add-on to Windows and designed to simulate a BIOS with a SLIC table in it, not to figure out if that BIOS is actually in a chip on the mobo.
Help! I can't activate 7 Ultimate with 22TKD... key! I have flashed my BIOS to support SLIC 2.1 but when i check with slmgr.vbs -ato, it gives Error: Product Activation failed.
you must not use slmgr with -ato switch ... it's for online activation , not working. bios slic 2.1 + certificate + SLP key= offline activation ... slmgr -ilc c:\name of cert.xrm-ms (certificate of manufacturer that matches with bios slic 2.1 ) slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx (slp key) reboot , sometimes not needed... test activation with slmgr -dlv slmgr -xpr
when i try to put in 22TKD*** it says invalid key. I used same installation disk as all my other pcs. They must have b-listed it in one of the newer updates.
Yes I have, but the key is still not working. I understand that Microsoft has blacklisted the key, but why areso many people still successful in activating Windows 7 RTM?
It must be a SLIC or Certificate issue then. Even if MS had blocked that key you would still be able to install it and activate with it. It's only when you try and validate your Win7 that it will tell you your Win7 is not genuine. Please check that you have LENOVO SLIC 2.1 in your BIOS and that you are using the LENOVO OEM Certificate.
I've uninstalled 7Loader and try reinstalling the xrm-ms file and key but computer is still not activated! Help!
