    Hi everybody

Having created an up-to-date W7 Ultimate SP1-u image with the latest bundle of hotfixes (thanks to SoLoR!), I have now installed W7, configure things and running for couple of weeks. I also used rt7lite to integrate those hotfixes and disable a few things i.e. Media Center (but nothing critical or marked as "red").

I had some random crashes (not BSODs) - just everything freezing up i.e. screen, mouse and no responding at all. This happened once every 2-3 days or so and randomly, not the same app usage each time the crash would take place. I didn't know what was causing this, so I started disabling resource-consuming features, with no luck so far. But when I tried to access Adjust Visual Settings - nothing happend. I googled and found out that the command behind this was sysdm.cpl (in System32 folder) which is nowhere on my system - not even in the original image! The only thing relevant I found was under \sources\replacementmanifests - a file called sysdm-replacement.man.

I also run a sfc /scannow and it found a few things i.e.:

...but didn't do anything or replace the missing file.

At first and due to the nature of those crashes (had a few in Vista, but more rarely) I suspected a graphics drv problem, but now I am not really sure. Could it be because of the missing sysdm.cpl? Is it that those random crashes are related to the missing file? Besides, I need the damn thing in order to cut down on the graphics i.e. optimise for best performance and maybe disable Aero and see if the crash takes place again.

Any ideas to narrow possible causes down?

OK, just noticed "System Properties" (under Computer) won't work either. Probably hasn't been working from the begining of the installation of 7. So is it that something was wrong with the image I ve created or that rt7lite crunched something out that it shouldn't :(

    I can't go creating/re-installing again o_O
