i'm using windows 8 build 7989. i'm unable to remove any printers from "Devices and Printers" section. I added a network printer twice by mistake and i wanna remove the extra one, but i'm unable to. The moment I select "remove device", it asks me "are you sure you want to remove this device?", I click "Yes" and nothing happens. Tried it several times in the past few days. Now the printer has a clock symbol on the icon and in the status bar says "Device setup in progress". P.S: I cannot remove Fax or XPS Document Writer as well. any thoughts on how to fix this?
Do you have tasks for your printer (documents not printed) ? If yes, delete it before removing the printer.
It's an alpha build. If it wont delete, not much you can do but wait for the next build. Could always complain to microsoft.
nope... no tasks... anyway, had to format coz of some shutdown issues... used the "undirty" installer this time. fixed the shutdown issues... but still cannot remove any installed printers or XPS printer or fax, but i can live with that for now.
