Just had a DV7t-1000 self-brick during the BIOS update using InsydeFlash. The progress bar went all the way across then the system shutdown and now the screen is black, but all the lights and the DVD drive fire up upon restart. So far I have tried multiple BIOS revisions from old to new using both a Fat formatted 2gb flash drive, and also a USB floppy drive using the Win+B power-on method. The floppy drive reads then beeps 5 times, then reads again, beeps 5 times..... The flash drive seems to initially be accepted, and it quits doing the search beep and reads for ~20 seconds, however after that it seems to beep twice with a little pause, and then 15 beeps. Either that or it's 17 beeps. Anybody know the beep codes for Insyde Bios? Is my flash drive to big? Does the CRISIS disk work for this Insyde BIOS, seems I have seen others reportedly using it with .FD bios files. Are there any other methods/tools to get around a bad boot block or other potential hang-ups on this machine?? Any help, or other suggestions to try is appreciated.
hi, I've an Acer TM 3220 bios INSYDE and the bios file is FL50290.BIN, when I wass flashing the Bios electricity's gone so the PC don't work, only fan and led are OK. I want to know how to recover my bios using an usb floppy disk. info : when power up the pc maintaining the Fn+ESC the floopy disk start reading but stop after 4 or 5 seconds.
hi, If your bios is an FD file then try to find the right name using andy's tool "bios mod tool" and then rename your file as thisname.bin put it in the floopy disk and then boot with your floppy drive. hope that it works

I bricked an Acer Aspire 6930g bios, but I cant get de recovery to work I only have an .WPH file.. please tell met what to do.. Some info: On the bottom of the laptop the modelnummer is zk2 Bios file from the acer site is ZK2_3236.wph plash.ini that comes with the file says: [UI] DisCancel=1 Advanced=1 ;FlashOnlyEnable=1 ;EnableLog=0 StartScreen=0 Confirmation=0 ;LOGO=demo_1.bmp ;DetectBitLocker=1 ;SaveEscdMode=1 ;SaveUefiVarVolMode=1 ;SaveSetupVarVolMode=1 [Main] Shutdown=1 RetryCount=3 UpdateMode=3 FormatVersion=2 UpdateFlags=488209a3 UserFlags=8001a0 UserMask=d121a4 PSIFlags=0 UserMode=ffffffff BackupFile=bios.bak ImageFile=F:\ZY2_3308.WPH any ideas?
I've just registered to tell that the method in the first post just worked perfectly with an Acer 5720ZG, using the filename "ICL50HW.fd" Thanks alot, you saved my day !
Since there are three possible hardware platforms here the possible recovery file names: 30F3F2C.FD -> 30F3.bin or VADER_UMAX64.fd 30F4F2C0.FD -> 30F4.bin or VADERX64.fd 30F4F2C1.FD -> 30F4.bin or VADERX64.fd Make sure to rename the right file. Flashing the wrong file may brick your laptop entirely.
Hi anybody succesful doing bios recovery for Compaq CQ35-243TX. I already try to follow many way but still not working
Acer Aspire 6935G Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 6935G - 944G32Bn. I upgraded from 1.13 BIOS to 1.20 like 2 weeks ago, and all things were normal, until today. After normal use, for half an hour, notebook was normally shut down. On next start, it did not boot at all. Notebook powers up, power light is on, fan is on, blu-ray drive spins, but does not read from HD or what so ever. Bluetooth light stays on (usually turns off like 2 secs after power on). Monitor doesn't show anything, so as I see it, it hangs at BIOS. Has anyone recover BIOS on a 6935G ? I tryed with Fn+Esc and a FAT formatted USB drive (has an Insyde H2O BIOS) but didn't manage to do anything. I have it without the battery, with USB plugged in, but when I plug in AC power, notebook starts from itself, then turns off for couple of secs, then starts again (power button not pressed by me at all) ... I do not see any action on USB drive or so ... and after many minutes waiting, nothing happens ... I can turn it off by holding power on key. Any help is appreciated! I do have warranty, but I would like to skip the RMA hassle and so on, if possible ... Thank you all in advance !!!
There are two different hardware platforms (306D and 306E). Here the recovery file names: - for 306DF14.FD: 306D.bin or RHETTX64.fd - for 306EF14.FD: 306E.bin or RHETT_UMAX64.fd Make sure to flash the right file for your platform.
Recovery file name should be KM2X64.fd (like in windows folder in zip file). Make sure to format FAT16 or FAT32. To initiate recovery flash you have to find out the right key combination. There are more than one possibilities.
Thank you very much! I did manage to get the name too, though I do not manage to find the proper key-combo for the BIOS recovery on the Aspire 6935G ... :/
On some notebooks, the function key (FN-Key) needs a special driver for working in OS (for example on my Acer 1810TZ). This is a problem because at boot time (power on self test) there is no working driver for FN-Key based functions. So there are two possibilities - 1) recovery process is initiated with an other key combination 2) an other keyboard with legacy supported FN-Key is needed.
anyone have experience with recover bad flashing bios asus k42jr? i realy need a guide, i've already try as first post many times, with combination fn+esc and win key + B. not success (
Did you rename the bios file to K42JrAS.bin ? May be an other possibility: ASUS.DAT\ASUS.BIN . Don't forget to format the usb flash drive as fat or fat32.
thanks for your info. i've try them. still get same result. maybe i push wrong buttons? any other possibility of button combination & how long to push them? because after i read over & over earlier posts from other member, mine not showing sign of USB drive (4GB fat) reading.
are u able to fix your system? I have same problem. after bios repair steps using USB drive, my dv4-1020us is also in a same state as u describe. Were u able to fix your system?
