Remove Cmos Battery I was reading the comments in another thread but can't post link as new member and it recommended removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes (laptop battery and AC removed as well) to restore normal functionality of <win> + <b>. I don't have one of the laptops in question so I haven't tried it but I had just read it this morning and thought I would reply.

I have almost the same problem! PLESE HELP!!!!!!! I have almost the same problem as you! I flashed mine from 1.13 to 1.20 bios. I did it in windows, and that is a lesson that i learned not to do ever again. My computer is the same as yours: Acer Aspire 6935G-944G32BN It has a Intel H2O Insyde My computer is now bricked and i have no warranty on it. Sending it to repair is to expensive. But there must be a way to fix it without sending it for repair. Nothing is broken in the computer. The only problem is that bios is erased. When i plug in the power it starts by it self. It dont read the usb with the fn + esc command. I have formatted the USB to FAT32. But the cd is working for a few seconds at the startup. win + b dont work either. I have made a video of the computer so you can see whats happening when i start it up. I have also made a ISO file with all the commands i have burned onto a cd and tried. But i dont know if it ever has tried to read the files. And i have also posted the BIOS files i am trying to use. Please help me! I dont know what to do at this point. All help i can get is priceless! I Just need my baby to work again. I dont know what more i can write about it. PLESE HELP ME!! Here is video of computer: youtube.com/watch?v=yeuLHcW7nSc ISO cd with files i have tried. Dont know if the computer has read the cd.: rapidshare.com/files/438174930/Acer_6935g.iso BIOS i tried to rescue computer with: rapidshare.com/files/438175226/BIOS_ACER_v1.13_Windows_AS6935_8930.zip
I have problems with block booting a bios-dead Compal EFL31 notebook. Everything seems working: pressning Fn + B keys on power; the USB floppy rotates about 15 sec. and shortly reads the floppy, but that is all no matter what .rom or flas**t.exe files is present on the disk. As stated earlier in this post, I think the Insyde block boot tries to read/find the correct flash file. The problem is to find this file/filename. I have tried to decompress the rom-file (efl31107.ROM) link: service1.marasst.com/Compal/EFL30_31/Bios/EFL3031%20BIOS%20v1.07.zip" but I can't find any application to do it with. Do anybody have a solution for a floppy disk image for this particular laptop? If you run the flas**t.exe, it says that it fit's for Compal EAL50/51 and EFL30/31. I hope somebody have some hint's to this issue
LG r$10 Hello thanks for this awesome post, i got a dead BIOS while updating it ( windows got frozen for awhile ) anyway , the laptop is LG R410 looks like Winkey + B works ( the flash keeps flashing 3 times then stops ) the original bios file is QLXL3F22.fd i tried BB.FD BB.ROM BB.BIN BBHW.FD BBHW.BIN BBHW.ROM same with AA and also QLXL.ROM QLXL.BIN QLXL.FD QLXL3F22.fd any ideas ? the platform file [Platform_Check] flag=0 PlatformName=AA PlatformName2=BB MODEL is empty too ***************** ADD : i used Andy's tool (Phoenix SLICTool) and gave me the name QL8X64.fd , i tried it and nothing happened ( i also used .bin, rom and added HW , but nothing works ) iam not even sure if Winkey+B is the right one for this laptop anymore :\ regrads, AAly
hello everyone i stumbled upon this great forum whilst looking for a fix for a acer extensa 4220, i know nothing about the history of the laptop but to say the one i bought had a broked power socket which i thought easy fix but no i have replaced the dc socket no problems there but when i turn the laptop on it powers up for 2-3 seconds then turns off the powers back on again the fan works ok so does the dvdrom but the screen is blank and stays that way no matter how long it stays on for, i have read in the forum to get a bios file the one that is on the acer web site is v1.33 and contains 4 files,ABVXD.VXD it says thats a virtual device driver,BWA133 says its a application, FLASH.SYS says its a sytem file and a txt file that tells you what model the bios file is for and brief instructions how to use. i take it that this has to run under a windows enviroment, i have tied the fn + esc and power keys but nothing, i have a external usb floppy drive if i need that can anyone help to try and save this laptop
Hey bud i fixed it I followed these instructions 1. Go here and download and extract the latest BIOS for the netbook. 2. Rename the BIOS file to KM2X64.fs 3. Copy it to USB flash drive 4. Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged in. 5. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port. 6. Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together and press the power button. 7. When the unit's power light comes on wait a few seconds and release the Fn and Esc keys. 8. After the keys have been released the power light will start to blink. 9. During the BIOS update process the display will be blank. 10. Let the unit run and after approximately 1 to 7 minutes, the unit should reboot and the BIOS will be updated. its different to your typical one since AC adapter is plugged in before you plug in your usb
Hi! I will try this method tomorrow! Hope it will work. At this point my laptop is useless and i dont know what to do anymore to get it alive. Do you have the same laptop like mine that you have managed to fix with the method you described? Thanx so much for your help! // David
Yep i was exactly in your situation. same laptop No laptop sucks so i was trying what they said in first page for hours and it didnt work. then i ran into that alternate method and what do you know!! Youll know its working because your usb will be lighting up. your screen will be blank though. it took about a minute for me and the laptop shut down. no need to take usb out.. just turn laptop on again
Forgot to mention that you should take the battery out. Also theres a typo .fd file i meant.. not .fs
Thanks ever so much you lot, saved my bacon. Just signed up to thank you guys... I was trying to delete the HDD PASSWORD in bios by changing the known password and making a user and supervisor password. The screen froze in bios and refused to do anything after i forced a shut down (did wait 20 minutes before i did this) and bricked it. Donations to where? Much appreciated, Dan. Happy New Year to you all !!

Model : Acer Travelmate 3210 Bios : Insyde (global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_v2.90.zip?acerid=633643243626568094&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=TRAVELMATE&Step3=TRAVELMATE%203210&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_7)
Hello everybody. New member here I have read this thread and another similar to this one @ notebooreview.com, however I had no success in recovering my corrupted BIOS on my HP Envy 15t. Bios : F.2B When I unpack the softpaq there are two .fd files in the package. One named 147D.fd and another one named 7009.fd. I tried to rename the files with all extensions etc but it doesn"t work at all. Even Andy's tool told me that 147D.fd shoud be renamed with "D.BIN" and 7009.fd with "BIN". I am running out of ideas here and if someone can give me a new light on my problem I will really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
