For the Aspire 5720 (and also the 5315, 5320, 5715, 7320 and 7720; which are essentially the same machine), what worked for me consistently was burning the file ICL50HW.FD to a blank CD, and using that instead of a USB flash disk or an FDD. It would recognize none of my USB sticks, however, when I used a CD, it worked consistently. ("Consistently", because I had to recover numerous times, as I was working on a BIOS mod.)

    Acer Travelmate 8371 not working???

Please help me if you can guys.

I tried to set up the Acer bio protection thing but I cancelled it. Now it won't let me into the bios nor will it let me finish the system wizard (just loops something on the taskbar, nothing happens) so now I am locked out of the bios asking for a password that I never set.

So I updated the bios from v1.28 to the modified version for Vista but it did not remove the bios password.

So now I am trying to follow these steps.

I am trying to do this on an Acer TravelMate 8371

Using 16GB USB file, formatted to FAT32, renamed the bios to JM31X64.fd as per the instructions from those tools.

I tried both Fn + Esc and Winkey + B key but nothing happens.

Can anyone give me any help? Thanks a lot.
