I have a Packard Bell TK83 Laptop. I want to recover my bios after bad flash. I don't know recovery file name. Andys tool reporting BIOS.fd filename but not working. Platform ini: PlatformName= PlatformName2=JE50/HM52/SJV51-DN PlatformName3=JE51/HM53/SJV52-DN PlatformName4=BA/JE/HM/SJV5x-DN PlatformName5= PlatformName6= PlatformName7= PlatformName8= PlatformName9= PlatformName10= PlatformName11= PlatformName12= PlatformName13= PlatformName14= PlatformName15= PlatformName16= PlatformName17= PlatformName18= PlatformName19= PlatformName20= My board name is SJV52-DN I tried several combinations but with no luck Please, help me someone This combinations not working: View attachment 10419 Edit: The reason of not working was FAT32 formatted usb stick. At FAT16 formatted bios flashing started and now I writing from recovered computer
Yes, that was BIOS.fd I used FN + ESC (without battery - with battery fan don't want to start at 100% and notebook don't read bios from pendrive) Without battery every thing started like should be and computer is revived from the death
4 ALL Toshiba devices: Power + F will put the device in recovery mode! Use a max. 2GB Stick with the BIOS.fd file on it. This will work only once! If you start flashing in recovery mode and you cancel, the Boot Block will be damaged and you will have to flash it through a EPROMMER. Toshiba Satellite L650 PSKxJE Combination: F + Power Filename: BIOS.fd USB Stick: 2GB FAT16 (FAT) Toshiba Satellite A300-24X Combination: F + Power Filename: BIOS.fd USB Stick: 1GB FAT16 (FAT) Toshiba A305 Combination: F + Power Filename: BIOS.fd USB Stick: 2GB FAT16 (FAT) On some of those devices the recovery boot blocks are often damged. So you will have to ask toshiba to repair or people who know how to reflash a BIOS with a prommer.
cheers for you my friend i know your time it wasn't in vain try to get the right file which save the day of me too. and my compaq presario c700 intel..very good job you did great..five stars *****
Right ok. After much difficulty I have finally found out a solution for my Acer Travelmate 8371!! Please note after following and trying out many different instructions from around the internet, I have finally found out which one works for my laptop. I shall post these instructions for anyone with the same machine and is having problem with following other instructions. Probably I have taken unneccesary steps but these worked for me and hope that these will help someone. First of all I will list the equipment needed. Equipment 1) Acer Travelmate 8371 (I have the dual-graphics version, not sure if it will make a difference to people with the intel-only graphics.) in need of a bios re-flash 2) USB memory stick (I used a 16GB usb stick formatted to FAT32. Instructions 1) Format memory stick to FAT32 (or FAT if FAT32 is not available I would assume (for smaller memory sticks)) NOTE: does not work on NTFS I tried this unsuccessfully. 2) Create a bootable USB flash drive (first part of this video watch?v=uBuCH-HgZY0) NOTE: I am not sure if this is necessary, as many people as I gather it worked without it being bootable. 3) Download and extract BIOS_Acer_1.28_A_A.zip into a convenient location such as the desktop NOTE: this is the official v1.28 bios from the acer website 4) Copy BAP31.128 + FLAs**t.exe from \DOS and place into the root directory of your memory stick. 5) Rename BAP31.128 to JM31X64.fd 6) Shut down the computer 7) Unplug AC cord NOTE: my battery was not installed 8) Insert memory stick NOTE: my memory stick was located on the right side, not sure if that matters 9) While holding Fn+ Esc push the power button on and keep pressing Fn + Esc at varying speed -- quite fast at first and then slower. You should notice if this works is the Acer boot screen should go off and reboot every time you press Fn + Esc when you go slower. 10) Stop pressing Fn + Esc the next time the Acer boot screen goes off and wait Basically now what will happen is the screen will go blank, after some time (< 15 sec) the memory stick will start to flash, and soon after the fan speed will go to maximum throttle (< 45 sec) and the usb indicator will flash intermittently for about another 30 seconds when it will stop and afterwards the fan will spin down and it will reboot itself. Good luck!
HP elitebook 8540p - black screen of death hi, i have problem with bios, after update (through offical channel) , and then restart laptop just died, when is on - is just black screen HP elitebook 8540p i have tried all method from this topic and others USB stick with Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.BIN Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.SIG SMC.BIN or with all caps lock or with 68CVD.BIN and 68CVD.SIG in root folder Laptop after i press windows key+B is restart (and one beep) after about 15-20 sec, then turn on again restart (but this time mostly dont read anything from usb) and after is turn on for third time, then is just running (one time several hours) after this step i have tried to pull cable, shutdown, and then start, nothing (before all this i have tried hard reset, several other ways with dos , but nothing, combination with manually recovery, holding keys longer, shorter...) and i have get usb floppy, but 1.44MB is to small when bios is 3 MB, and with compression through one version of crisis again is too large can somebody help me?
Resolved, after several days and countless number of methods and flashing simple solution is that i downloaded first published bios from 2010 for this model Steps are simple 1. You need USB stick (FAT32, not bootable) 2. Download from HP your bios update (extract them with win rar or 7z) (then extract file from ROM package, rename Rom.bin and efibios.sig according to your number of bios - you can find them in ver.txt) 3. Put files like this on USB Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.BIN Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.SIG SMC.BIN 3 Start Laptop and press Windows key + B (about 3-5sec) When you see that something read data from USB release keys (it's all about feeling when you need let off this keys, so probably you need to try several times) 4 After 1-2 minute laptop will restart and you get error (press enter) 5. From this step further is all easy (your OS is booting ) I don't know why last two version of bios have not worked in this step, but first release have (and latest version of bios just won't install, i have tried several methods, one time i have boot screen with success upgrade, but after restart laptop is stuck for one hour, and then i just repeat restore which is described before)
Sony vgn-cs215j bios I have corrupted my bios, ubuntu works but windows 7 installation or installer both crash, latter says corrupted files but that's bs. i tried flashrom, flas**t gives no fadt error, key combo win + B doesn't work. is there any way to re-flash it.
1. Is your machine still booting? 2. FAT16 Stick + recovery filename bios.fd file and Fn + Esc (Then power it on) Fn + Windows Fn + F (Then power it on and hold the buttons)
I am very sorry to take up your ... but I am really DESPERATE I have been reading posts now for 5 days and no luck so far ! I have been trying all the methods described including floppy and usb pen drive , still no result. To describe my laptop Packard Bell lj65 on the bottom it sais model no : KAYF0 on the white label it sais : EasyNote LJ65-AU-141CH The bios that is on now is 2.09 I think it is INSYDE The packard bell page offers 2.09 , 2.10 , 2.11 ..... The name of the bios file when you download and extract is KAYF0209.FD I have been trying to modify the file to over 50 different names and still no luck. When I start the lap it hangs on the packard bell logo and press f2 to enter setup , if you press f2 it changes to please wait and then it is on the same place for hours..... I have removed the hdd and the battery pack..... What happens when I try the FN + esc combination (100+ times tried) is that the screen is blank and the usb flashes but it never shuts down (waited several times up to 30 minutes).... The usb flashes in 4 intervalls , 3 short and one longer..... I am really sorry to bother you and it is not like me , I always try all the possible posts and forums but this time I dont see no solution . The laptop has just passed by 2 weeks the warranty Please help. Best regards nacora
hi, i have acer aspire 4540 laptop. just recently my laptop did not post to bios (when i turn it on the lcd stay blank.) at first, when this problem occur, i just turn it off and then on for few times and it will post bios but now it doesn't post bios anymore. i've checked the ram and everything else and its work fine. after searching info about it on web, i think it is the bios problem. i tried the method here (press fn+esc, plugin power then turn on). first i use usb flash drive but the laptop didn't read it then i use cd and the cd drive only blink for few second then stop and nothing happen (no reading and reboot only fan spin fast). the recovery name for my bios that i found using andy's tool is NBLG0X64.fd . i dont know what should i do anymore (or went wrong). i hope you guys have some suggestion that can help me fix my laptop. p/s : sorry bad english...hehe
Acer Aspire 8930G (Flashed 1.20 BIOS with 1.10 8930 BIOS) - Blue Screened Regardless of what idiocy made me flash this thing or the fact that a Blue Screen killed the BIOS anyway (and some sites say you can't recover a Insyde BIOS) the following eventually worked for me. Very grateful to this site and - having come over all religious - may your god go with you - I'm and sooo freaking grateful. Found correct BIOS on Acer USA website. Laptop was purchased in Europe but Acer Europe website only has older 1.10 BIOS. BIOS file needed is KM2X64.fd (also according to Phoenix analysis tool) Hopefully what follows is understandable. ===================================================================== My USB (Kingston) has an activity LED on it. I used this as a reference to see if the laptop was reading from it at any point. UNSUCESSFUL PROCESS Laptop battery removed, all connections removed, power cord unplugged. Copied KM2X64.fd to USB stick. Renamed BIOS file ICL50.fd. Plugged stick into right hand side of dead laptop. Holding Fn+Esc on laptop. When I plug in power, laptop powers on (keep holding Fn +Esc) While still holding, powered off using power button, Powered back on USB drive light flashes access for about 4 seconds. Waited 10 seconds then released Fn+Esc keys No reaction from laptop whatsoever for about 2 minutes, then it powered itself off. I powered it back on but still no BIOS. Tried renaming back to KM2X64.fd with same process (which is correct for Acer Aspire 8930G apparently) but didn't work. SUCCESSFUL PROCESS Copied the KM2X64.fd file 15 times onto the otherwise blank USB stick. Named all 15 file variants (one variant was AA or BB according to the Platform.ini) as below... (Note: these are all the one file, copied and renamed as a precaution) KM2X64.fd KM2X64HW.fd AA.fd BB.fd AAHW.fd BBHW.fd KM2X64HW.bin KM2X64HW.rom BBHW.bin AAHW.bin KM2X64H.rom AAHW.rom AA.rom BB.rom BBHW.rom All external connections removed from laptop, power cable out. Inserted USB stick into right hand USB port. Held Fn+Esc constantly. Plugged in power cord. Laptop powered itself on. (That is, the power supply light on the laptop came on and the laptop also powered itself on, although it didn't do anything else) Laptop Hard Disk LED pulses every 1 second. No other activity. No USB drive activity. Released Fn+Esc but no reaction. Held Fn+Esc constantly again. Powered off laptop using power button (holding it down for five seconds or so until power switch LED went off). Powered back on by pressing the power button again (only 5 seonds after turning it off). Again Hard Drive LED pulses every one second. No other reaction. Released Fn+Esc. USB Drive access light started flashing (OMG) and continued for about 30 seconds. After about two minutes, the laptop powered itself off. I pressed the power button and hallelujah. CONCLUSION Procedure is correct although behaviour was different across the various powering ons/offs. It seems that it only read the USB stick twice and the first time my filename was wrong (I guess). I don't know which of the 15 was correct and I no longer care but it was finding the correct filename that clinched it. Job done.
