Hope someone can help. I was flashing an Acer 4750G (EFI / Insyde BIOS) earlier on windows then I left it. When I came back, it was still on but the screen in blank. I hold the Power to turn it off, then turn it back on. It was booting (there's a beep sound) but the screen is still blank. I've searched here but I can't find someone who have successfully recover from a bad flash.
UPDATE: The laptop is not completely brick, I can RDP to it! I'll appreciate any suggestions to fix this.
yes for you i run the andy's tool and this is the result HEWLETT-PACKARD\BIOS\Current\01444.BIN if your not sure try to use other laptop with windows and im pretty sure this will be the result. Maybe try to rename each folder properly according to its Caps. also try to download lower bios ver. and renamed it. Hope this will help you. if not i think your bios is already fried just like mine. what i did is look for same defective model coz its cheaper and transfer the bios. gudluck
I tried but nothing happens.....usb key continues reading but nothing more...i'm going to buy a new motherboard.....
I just bought a new motherboard. One thing is sure...i'll never use Windows7 again to update bios. How can i consider a system that crashes during a so dangerous operation? Windows7 is s**t...use FreeMsDos forbios upgrading. Hey, if you can dismantling completely your notebook and find out your bios chip specifications, i suggest to contact badflash.com. A new reprogrammed bios chip is only 29$ and the shipment is worlwide.
Hi pijen, I have the same notebook, Acer Aspire 4740, with(i believe) the same problem, how you did? What were the symptoms that had your notebook?. My notebook has the following symptoms: When turn on the laptop the fan spin fast, the DVD drive spin for 3 sec. and the HDD spin without turn on her led. The "circle of light" of the power buttom and the led of power on normally, but the leds for Caps lock and Num lock not respond. But, no display, no beeps....nothing. I hope you can help me Thank you!!. Ps.: Sorry for my horrible english
i have same trouble Hello! i have exactly the same problem. as drax4max in post #223 HP 4320s, upgrade from stock BIOS to last one from HP site. Notebook has bricked... drax4max can you tell how you fix BIOS in 4320s ?
I think I can help I had the same problem with my Acer 5741 this morning after a BIOS upgrade went horribly wrong last night. Following the instructions from Surimax on the thread 25317-Acer-Aspire-5741G-Bios-Recovery at mydigitallife here, post #1 (sorry I am not allowed to post a link as I am a new member), I got it working again after a few panicy minutes. To Suramix's instructions I would add the following: 1. Make sure you remove your battery first (I didn't realise at first that I needed to do this). 2. You don't need Flas**t. I just had the latest version of the BIOS (1.23 in my case). This observation is based on some other looking around I found on the net. 3. The USB doesn't need to be bootable. I did however partition my 4GB USB stick so that it had one 512 MB partition (below the 2GB limit it states in the linked post). I used EASEUS's excellent and free Partition Magic to achieve this step by removing all partitions from the USB stick and replacing it with one FAT32 partition of 512MB and the rest blank. 4. Make sure you press FN and Esc before you press the power button. 5. Watch for the USB stick LED to flash. 6. The screen will be blank. 7. Don't panic and be patient. Just at the point I thought "nothing has happened" and looking for alternatives I went back and found it had rebooted into Windows 7 with the latest version of the BIOS. It was however a matter of minutes not a matter of hours. The whole process from googling the net thinking that I was doomed to getting the laptop back again took no more than 1.5 hours. Hope you get your laptop back safe and sound. Mark
somebody help me i got an acer aspire 4730z got a brick......need to recover but i cant.......i tried a lot of ways....please somebody.....and a compaq c700-768la....onthe same condition thankss
I'm having a problem with a dv7-3065dx. I bricked the bios, was updating it through windows when it decided it would be a good time to overheat and crash. I tried to use the usb recovery but to no avail. I've tried several combinations of file names as well as different bios. Seems like it doesnt want to take them. It will read the thumbdrive and immediatly reboot after 2-3 beeps. Any ideas?
Hi. Packard Bell Easynote LS-44HR, CompaL Motherboard P7YE0 (same than Acer 7750) : I want to update to the latest version because i see that Chicony Id device change and i'm under OSX with no usb camera working. i think perhaps flashing the bios could help........... Download the latest bios 1.15 from PB support and make an usb bootable DOS key, put the DOS rep content on the root and Go...... Launch the process via Bios.bat : the tools flash the bios.... 100% no problem and a 2nd procedure called EC, start.... 100% Down. and i see my cursor blinking normally... Whan I wanted to stroke key, the keyboard seems to be Out, waiting a few minutes and i decided to shutdown via Powerbutton, but NO Way, the laptop seems to be freezed..... The only way to shutdown it, was to removed the battery and AC power. i put my AC plug, and.............. NO CHARGING LED tryin to power on the lappie : NOTHING I prepare my usb crisis key 512 mb (FAT format) with this file on the root : P5WE0x64.fd (i verified before with Andy's tool the correct recovery file name) Trying all combination key : FN+esc / <Windows> + B key / FN + F / FN + <Windows> NO-THING............... Do you have an idea ? PS : i've found the service guide, the good combination : Fn+esc and my bios file name is OK !
