    Can someone please help me.
    My Dv6 2030sa appears to be bricked, and i've been trying everything to flash but with no success, here is some info:

    HP dv6 2030sa
    Win 7 32bit
    Mobo number: HP 571188-001
    Bios ver. 3635f04, ****f12 etc etc

    Ive tried combinations of:
    [Platform_Check]
    flag=2
    PlatformName=3635
    PlatformName2=3636
    PlatformName3=3637
    PlatformName4=3638
    PlatformName5=3639
    PlatformName6=363A

    PlatformName7=
    PlatformName8=
    PlatformName9=
    Check_Before_ROM_Size=1

    The ones in red I have tried lots of combinations of .bin, .rom etc etc, everytime all I get is one beep and power down...except with 3636 I get about 5 beeps then stays powered but nothing else happens (maybe relevant..??)
    Iam using LaCie 4gb stick format in FAT.

    Please any suggestions..?

    try A.BIN

    per phoenix mod tool
    Recovery filenames are:
    A.BI?

    It does mention a.bi when I run phoenix yea.
    So just add a.bi to Hewlett-Packard/Bios/Current? Do i need to rename a .sig file too?

    I'm even more confused now.
    Ive removed the HDD, I put A.bin (renamed from 3635F12_SLIC.fd) in both /bios/current, and in root of hp_tools, but doesnt work.

    try 3635.fd or bin

    why u using a slic to do a recovery ?? use original F0.4 as originaly in laptop to do the recovery... sometimes newer version wont go in recovery mode.

    To be honest I'm not sure, ive just been trying as many things as possible for about the last week or so, and i'm probably going round in circles and driving myself mad.
    Ive tried all those cominations of .rom, .bin and .fd on the numbers listed in #384, all in root of my usb stick.
    I'm at my wits end :(

    with usb spi programer most times u can backup.bin and compare bios .fd in hexeditor and merge then flash back in programmer.
    only problem is sometimes the chip is not spi type on some older hp's but yours seems to be spi.

    however u probabaly have the bad nvidia chip that needs reflow. (or test ram 1 at a time in slots)
    why did u flash bios to begin ? freezing issues ?

    No I never did reflash, it just switched off one day last week, then when turned back on, it flashes caps lock in 'bad bios' sequence.

    - In case of problems with FN+ESC I can recommend to change the used USB port or stick -

    So after reading though every post and much trial and error on my part I'd just like to share what worked for me.
    HP DV5-1002NR with the dreaded flashing capslocks.

    USB Flash Drive 256Megs formated for Fat16
    Used older bios files, not the lastest file.
    Only 1 file was needed. Renamed the .FD file to .BIN and edited the file name. Example 30F2F20.FD to 30F2.BIN

    I pulled the battery on the machine but I dont think that was totally necessary.
    Held Down the Window and B key
    Plugged Adaptor In
    Pressed Power
    My machine never beeped like others have mentioned so I kept an eye on flash drive for drive activity, as soon as I saw it being accessed I let the Windows and B key go
    Once the drive activity stopped the screen finally lit up and the recovery mode started.

    As said before I started with the lastest bios file, that didnt work. So I tried every other bios starting from the beginning till I found one that did work.

    Good Luck!

    Toshiba Satellite Pro L730 problems

    Hi, I am using the above mentioned laptop. I tried upgrading from 1.90 bios to 2.50 and now my screen is blank and my fan changes speed and intesity randomly. The cd drive opens but otherwise the computer does not respond. If I press fn-esc the power button flashes. So far the other shortcuts aren't working...

    I've downloaded the bios images from the toshiba support pages. I tried 1.50, 1.90 and 2.50
    They were already name BIOS.fd so there was no problem loading them onto the usb flash drive.
    I have tried all three separately using fn-esc but with no success...
    The usb is formatted to fat16 and is otherwise blank so there should be no problems.
    PLEASE HELP! I can't think of anything else to do....:confused:
    Any suggestions would be appreciated:worthy:
    Thanks!

    It says: Toshiba Satellite pro L730
    PSK09A-003001

    It is important to note it is a Satellite pro L730, not a Satellite L730

    I've been waiting for quite some time now, but the power light is still flashing...
    I'm sure it's the right version, I checked the bottom of the computer and redownloaded the image. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

    OK, Started running updates on an Acer Aspire 7720. Tried the Bios update, said failed and locked up.

    Was going to follow the instructions in the first post but the Acer Bios I download is an .exe file. not the extensions I see in the first post.

    I extracted it from the .rar file. There is a readme and the .exe. Where do I go from here?

    Also it shows my bios was 1.14 and I can only find 1.45. Any repository for old ones?

    Ok, I found the oldest bios closest to mine. 1.16. Flashing it now but it has been almost ten minutes and it hasnt shut down yet.

    Fans still running. I tried ICL50.FD. Should I retry with ICL50HW.FD?
