Okay, I've formatted my usb thumb drive (4gb, I don't have anything bigger, except a 110 gb external usb flash drive which I can't format to FAT) to FAT, and ran the hp diagnostics tool, but the only folder that was placed on the drive was Hewlett-Packard/SystemDiags with 10 different files.

try all versions of bios.. no need to run them in phoenixmodtool as it does not create .DEC

Do I still use the USB EFI, even though it doesn't create all the required folders? Or just place the bios file in the usb drive (rename it to .bin)?

The sp48394.exe doesn't create the current and previous folders. Should I manually create them?

Hello. I have some trouble in neighboring thread forums.mydigitallife. info /threads/870-Bios-Recovery-Procedures/page124?p=692586
In this thread i found a file mediafire. com /?a6s8p5nht61t7xo
I write it to my flash drive Transcend, insert to my Lenovo E425, press Fn+R buttons, plug the AC adapter, and power On it.

And my Transcend flash begin ligth and then is shut off. I think that was unexpected error in code in those files.
I want to say that Lenovo seek for the file BIOS.cap and try to load and apply it. I think that we are need make a right BIOS.cap.

Hi, is there a tool around that can unlock locked damaged/buggy ME region of SPI flash w/o h/w intervention? Notebook has a damaged and locked ME region. SPI W25Q64BV, ami-aptio insyde bios (efi insyde aptio bios). HMRFPO or smth. like this tool. ME locked on boot/POST.

Same problem with a dv6, this worked! Thank you! the file that i copied was 017FC.bin, and it was the only .bin file in the F.1b and F.02 bios from HP.

The procedure is to format a flash drive
copy ONLY 1 file, and try it - use the XXXX.bin file (do not rename it)
    Remove battery and power cord
insert the flash drive with the .bin file
hold down the windows key and the b key
    insert power cord
hold down power for 5 sec, then release
release the windows and b button
wait, the system should give you a cmos error, hit enter, and it will boot. then update the bios with the hp tool.

hope this helps someone else! sure saved me!

Sony Vaio laptop model: PCG31311W (VPCYB16KG) - bricked bios SOLVED

While updating the BIOS of my daughter's Sony Vaio laptop model: PCG31311W (VPCYB16KG), from some unknown reason the system lost the power even it had all the time AC power (?!)...oops! no battery ... and I ended up with the black screen and the laptop which spins the fan and the hard drive for a few seconds, pooling the SD card too, repeating such action indefinitely long.
I used for the BIOS update just one file
EP0000259471.exe. Should I rename my file in EP0000259471.bin ? Should I use Windows-B or some other buttons? Is the above procedure applicable to my laptop? Please advise. Thanks for your time.

Thanks LatinMcG but I did not want to use the .fd file of unknown origin, you provided. I decided to produce the file myself. After a couple of hours, researching the bricked BIOS recovery, I ended on the Jakob Heinemann's web site He is a great guy! I produced the patchedbios.fd and completed the procedure described on the Jakob's web site and my daughter's laptop was working again!

Great thanks to Jakob Heinemann, he created a script written in python you can use to produce the patched bios .fd file, the same script is also giving you the names of the .fd file. For the whole procedure visit his URL.

    Hi

I have a hp dv6-2010ss and it doesn't boot, it just shows a black screen and a couple of leds blinking twice (Corrupted bios)

I have tried to recover the bios with the hp_tools partition of the hdd with poweron+win+b, but after a couple of attemps I got the hdd and check the hp_tools in another computer and it doesn't have anything to recover the bios, so now I'm trying to recover the bios with an usb.

Firstly, I downloaded the bios update package for my pc (I've tested with several sp sp45171, sp46804, sp47531 ), and unpacked it to get the .FD file (3635F13.FD, 3635F12.FD, 3635F04.FD), I rename it to 3636.BIN (3636 is my platform name), and try to boot with win+b. The system started loading the usb and after several beeps (8-10) it did a double beep and stopped loading the usb and beeping, but without shutdowning. Nothing change after poweroff/on, the same black screen.

I downloaded sp54668, it creates a usb stick named HP_TOOLS and I have tried copying 3636.BIN file in several folders but I always get moreless the same. If I place it in the root folder, it makes the same than explained above, if I place it in Hewlett-Packard/BIOS/Current, New or Previous folder it just beeps twice and no more.

I have read many information in hp forums and many people talk about a .SIG file, but I can't find it anywhere in bios package.

Could any of expert help me in order to solve this issue?

    Thanks in advance!

That one only generates the SystemDiags, no folder/file related with the bios :(
