OK. Thank You very much... Indeed before flashing, BIOS version was F.09... Nevermind... Now the BIOS seems to be working but my laptop screen is still black, though I can see everything on external monitor. Any clues?

    Thanks.

Does the internal monitor work in safe mode? (F8) or there is no display at post either?

There's no POST on internal monitor... I've booted Ubuntu from USB drive, and in monitor configuration utility internal monitor is shown as present, but it doesn't work if I turn it on.

Right now as I'm writing this it seems like there's something showing on internal monitor, but very weak, very weak.

    Hi Guys,

I have Acer Aspire 5755G, which got the same InsydeH2O Bios.

I've started a thread in which I've clearly mentioned about my issue. Please click below link to see my thread.

:(I've been really struggling for last 7 days to find out whether its BIOS flash file or BIOS Hardware issue. If any of you guys give me a hand then hopefully I'll get on with it. I'm also keen to go for soldering new BIOS chip but before that I need to confirm that its really dead or not, in which I've no idea how to find that.

    Many Thanks

I do have a lot of troubles flashing a BIOS for my Acer Aspire 5532, downloaded the bios from acer website, and tried several filenames for the FD file with the usb stick, no luck, tried every single step, FN + Escape, power up, fan works 100%, but no led on usb or anything, it just stays like that forever :( ,any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

    Hi elvergonx,

Its not only us, there were few of them who had the same issue so far till date within different Acer boards with Insyde Bios. So I've googled like crazy and found none of them had reported a fix for that, in which I strongly believe either they have sent the unit for repair to fix or must have got Acer warranty. So far I think BIOS chip may be got corrupted or completely failed, in which might need a reprogramming or replacement chip. I've put step forward in search of fix which in next few days I'll be doing some electronics DIY stuff to desolder the chip and reprogram it and see if it works. For this I'm also opening a thread and take some advice from great people here. Hopefully If everything works then I might write a guide here :)

Just posting to say a big thank You to original poster and all who have helped. Confirmed working for my Asus K72dr.

    My process:

    1. Format usb stick to FAT32.
    2. Downloaded Bios from Asus support site (Original 206 bios did not work, newest one did.)
    3. Used Phoenix tools to figure out filename (K72Dr.bin)
    4. Copy to USB Stick.
    5. Take out Battery, DVD drive & Hdd.
    6. Insert USB stick to laptop being reflashed, correct USB port un K72dr is on the right side closest to You.
    7. Hold down Ctrl+Home, insert power cable, wait few secs, turn laptop on.
    8. You should get a screen infrorming You: 'erasing flash rom, rewriting...'
    9. Computer will shutdown after few mins, reinsert battery, dvd, hdd.
    10. Reboot and You should be good to go.

This was from a laptop where there was nothing working except power led when booting up.
Note to self: Never use WinFlash tool again, ever. :)

    Another Laptop saved, thanks again.

Ive got a Acer Aspire 9500 (Modell DQ70).

Mainboard: Compal Stork (Chipset i915PM/GM, Southbridge 82801FBM (ICH6-M)

    Pentium M 760 @ 2 GHz

Insyde Software MobilePRO Version 4.20.10, using the "Acer HQD70" Bios 1.60. (512kb)

Right after startup it additionally says "Insyde ACPI Bios 4.20.09" short before initialising the HDD and the CD-Rom.

I made a backup of the 1.60 using the "Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0" but couldnt open it.

I downloaded the 1.70 : (cant post links yet)

    h**p://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_v1.70.zip?acerid=633643257974888117&Step1=Not ebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%209500&OS=X01&LC=d e&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_8

No tool can open this ROM either. (Andy's Tool, Phoneix Bios Editor Pro etc.)

There is no sign of LZMA or any other compression method, when viewing the ROM in a hex editor

I then extracted the winflash.exe and the platform.ini does not have the line "MODEL="

    What to do next ?
Any additonal info is welcome. :)
