    Hello all,

Acer Aspire 5552g owner here. Spent hours on trying everything I could find but still no luck. Couldn't get laptop to recover BIOS. USB Stick led light is on just for startup and then nothing. I think it doesn't read. Can you think of anything else? I tried Fn+Esc and Windows+B.

    Thanks

    Yep thank you,
It is because the Phoenix/Insyde Tool told me it is a insyde bios.
Problem is AMI BIOS Recovery did not work for me because my keyboard is not responsive anymore, no keyboard lights come up.
I have bought this: CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM Flash BIOS USB Programmer together with a chip extractor.
Now i'll wait :( for shipping.

    Update!
The chip programmer worked, had another computer lying around so i just fixed the bios for 2 euro total.

Hi, I recently bricked my Lenovo Flex 4-1480 and I'm having trouble finding the recovery filename since PhoenixTools doesn't seem to tell me. I've already tried AA.bin, BB.bin, AAHW.bin, BBHW.bin, based on the platform.ini file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Update: the recovery name is "BIUS4.bin", found by mclarke2355 on bios-mods.com

Hi, does anyone know the recovery file name for a Dell Inspiron 5555. Andy's Phoenix Tools doesn't give any name. It just says that it's an EFI/Insyde bios.

I need it because I "accidentally" bricked my laptop.

    Thanks

I've bricked my Gateway laptop by trying to flash a newer BIOS from Gateway's support site. Filename is BIOS_Gateway_1.08_A_A.zip and contains 2 folders: Windows folder with file Winflash_NAYF0108.exe and DOS folder with files BIOS.bat, BIOSME.BAT, FLAs**t.EXE, KB9A108A.ROM, MEInfo.exe, NAYF0108.fd, SPI.EXE, SPROM.EXE.

I made a bootable USB pen drive with FreeDOS using Rufus, and copied the files from the DOS folder mentioned above to the pen drive. Booted the laptop from the pen drive and it appeared to run through the flash process OK when I ran BIOS.bat. However on restart I get no post no beeps just a blank screen.

I tried renaming the NAYF0108.fd to NAYF0X64.fd per PhoenixTool which showed Recovery filenames are: NAYF0X64.f? and putting it on the pen drive (no other files) then booting while holding Fn-B which accessed the pen drive for several minutes and shut down the laptop automatically. But on restart I still get simply a blank screen. Also tried Fn-Esc but that didn't seem to access the pen drive nor did it shut down (I waited at least 10 minutes).

I don't have any backup of the original BIOS which I remember showed version 1.03 so I don't know how to proceed from here. The laptop is a Gateway model KAYF0 NV7915u manufactured in Sept 2012, Intel Core i3 processor. Motherboard sticker has NAYF0 L01 and MBWHH020019527C8011601.

Any help would be much appreciated, I really don't want to spend any more money on this unit e.g. buying another motherboard if I can avoid it. Thanks for your help!

I have a Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB. After downgrading the bios to verison 1.07 the notebook doesn‘t reboot. The screen remains dark.

In the C:\BIOS\1YCN35WW\1YCN35WW\Platform.ini I find the folllowing section:

    [Platform_Check]

    Flag=3

    PlatformName1=CIZY3

    PlatformName2=

CIZY3 is the name oft he mainboard. The Phoenixtool 2.66 didn’t give me a recovery name.

    Renamed the file DIZY6202.bin to:

    DIZY3.bin

    DIZY3.fd

    DIZY3.rom

Put these files on a 2GB Usbstick formatted to Fat16. Removed the battery and the power cord from the laptop, plugged in the usb stick, hold FN+R, reconnect the power cord and press the power button. Now release the power button FN+R after releasing the power button.

Now, the keyboard lights up alternately with the Led on the usb stick. Nothing more happens

Did I use the wrong recovery name? Any suggestions?

The Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB is relatively new on the market and has a insyde20 bios. Therefore, recovery might work somehow different.
    I ended up using a SPI-programer and a SOIC-8 test clip.
Used this program: extractor_v0.2_win on the command prompt:
    c:\Users\test\extractor_v0.2_win\extractor CIZY3106.bin extracted.bin
Loaded the file extracted.bin in the CH341 programer and flashed the Winbond 25Q64FVSIQ flash chip.
    Bios is restored now.

They wanted me to change the Mainboard, because you have to flash bios fom insyde OS. But I remember booting accidently in a Bios flash enviroment before. Something like vol up+ Power.
Hope someone can help cause changing Mainboard is equal to total lost. (The Odys cost 220€)

    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. I have one question.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L675-119.
I've downloaded the BIOS from Toshiba website.
    Extracted files are:
    • bios.ROM
    • BiosCheck.ini
    • ec.rom
    • Setup.exe
When I load the bios.ROM file on Andy's Tool I receive the following message:

After extracting I get the following information:
I don't know what to name the .ROM file.
Where can I find that bit of information?

    Thanks in advance :)

Sorry for necroing the thread, but I've been meaning to learn just where you should look for the proper bios file name for recovery in Andy's SLIC tool.
