Does anyone have a workable link for me to download David BIOS backup tool kit? Both links here are not working for me.

    Help

Hello. I am not a sophisticated computer operator so maybe someone can help me in very basic terms that I can understand. Here is the situation: I just downloaded a new version of the bios that is available for my ACER Travelmate 2420 series Laptop, model 2423 wxci the new bios version is 1.06, but before I install it I want to make sure I can get back my old version (version 1.01) if something goes wrong or the new version does not work correctly(on the Acer site it states: Updating an incorrect BIOS may cause harm to your system. We recommend that you only do this after being instructed by one of our Customer Care representatives. By using these updates you agree to accept the possibility of product failure.) I'm just being careful. I just made a backup of the current Bios (version 1.01) using the "Universal Backup Tool" and seemed to work just fine (PhoenixTechnologiesLTD-V1.01.rom) So, My question is this: If the new version does not work correctly, how would I reinstall the old version back on to the computer as it is a .rom file???

here is how it explains to install the new version as it will run a batch file to do it, but I do not know how to install the bios as a .rom file, please help? any advice will be appreciated!

TravelMate 2423 BIOS Installation Under Windows (Preferred)

    1. Download the BIOS file travelmate-2420-2423-bios.zip and unzip to a temporary folder.
    2. Go to the folder and run AG1A106.bat batch file within folder under Windows mode to update this bios.
    3. Do not switch off or restart until you are told to do so.

Well for updating bios seem it's ok, unless u mods ur bios to add some slics, but just to be sure u've to make some recovery disk, look n search for acer recovery disk in bios mods, for restoring backup bios u could simply rename the *.rom into ur actual bios files (for insyde it use *.fd if I'm not wrong) or u can see bout recovery disk methodes, just take a look in bios mods section, hope it help!
