Hi everyone! I recently acquired a damaged Sony laptop and was sucessfull in replacing the dead motherboard with that of a Vaio VGN-140G. I wanted to install this BIOS update: R0035J4 http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNC140G&upd_id=2837&os_group_id=10 Problem is, the system won't let me since it can't read the system information. Now, while searching online, I read that the BIOS can be unlocked. Does this mean that added features can then be selected? Or is it just a BIOS SLIC mod? I would love to have both, if possible. I currently have installed Windows XP Pro on it and would like to update to Windows 7 Home Edition. I would love to install the new BIOS update with an unlocked version of the BIOS, though a SLIC modified one would be great. Is it possible? Can I do so via DOS instead of Windows? Thanks in advance!
