    How to get version of installed tools and know if i need manual update (actually I have updates off)? Thanks.

    Why that obsession for updates?

    What a newer tools package is supposed to bring in?

    Stay with vmware 16.1.2 (not the crappy 16.2.x) or 15.5.7, use their bundle and live happy

    That said just open the control panel and check what version of the tools you have installed

    It is present on the 16.2.4... version but the vm needs to be encrypted maybe that is changed in 17?

    Do you manually update VMware Tools 12.2.5 (last from Jun 2023) in VMware Workstation 17.0.2 ?

    Could you please expand what's broken in 16.2.x ? I'm on 16.2.2 and would like to see if I'm using a broken product. It's a matter of great concern as I have paid nothing for it.
