VMware Workstation 17.6.1 with Tools 12.4.5/12.5.0 reduces FPS in videos MKV/MP4 while played in DAUM PotPlayer on the latest stable Windows 10/11 Pro guest.
I do not run untrusted code on the VMs. So as long as the program runs, I am okay with it. I tested and used a few versions: v12.5.9 (2018) v14.1.8 (2019) v15.5.7 (2020) Used all of them at some point on Windows 7 until 2020 (v15 not tested there) and since 2020 (v14 & v15) on Windows 8.1. To v15 I actually upgraded recently, as I think, for older versions a windows update broke clipboard pass-through support.
I know, VMWARE 17x put BSOD on Vista/7, when in Windows 7 we make updates to ESU W7 Embedded / WS 2008 R2 and on Vista after install kb4474419. Interesting, Virtualbox haven't that problems. But Vbox has swag usually Machines, when is turned on Acceleration 3D.
