What couses that I can't copy files from/to virtual machine after some time of use? I often have multiple virtual machines running as W10, W11 and Ubuntu. (I use lastest VMWS 25H2) Thanks. EDIT: suspend and restore of problematic VM helps restore clipboard and drag&drop back.
@Tonyny Using a newer tools set may very well be the root cause. I experienced exact same issue as you describe in a different hypervisor and tools was to blame. Never had issues in vmware using correct tools.
It's there in 17 too but it's not invasive, I haven't even noticed it until you brought it up. BTW, I have a question if any kind soul could answer. Does this newer 25H2 is direct update for v17? And as screenshots suggests, is it only for Windows 25H2? Unlike the previous 17 that could host many possible OS simultaneously.
Never tried it, can test it later Last time i used it was in November installing macOS 26 on Windows 10 host, did'nt notice anything unusual...
Thank you for the response Sajjo, I got confused by the new version naming conviction. Its just the regular stuff with new update. You can say its version 18. But I'm sticking to v17, as this newer 25H2 enables a massive pagefile of its own by default which I really don't need, unnecessarily churning the SSD.
Anyone tried to downgrade VMware-Workstation-Full-25H2u1-25219725.exe -> VMware-workstation-full-17.x.x-xxxxxxxx.exe? You have to uninstall using the installer, Win 11 uninstaller just f**k's it up. Fyi
When you try to run the installer from a previous version you get an error message which saying: The product installer doesn't support downgrades. So you have to uninstall, for me Windows uninstaller works, but if you have issue you can still uninstall if you have the installer or try control panel select Vmware click change and remove.
True. And it kinda make sense, anyhoo, you are right. Not for me. For the first time, odd... using the 25H2u1-25219725 That works. That was just fun. When I finally tried it. Nope...
That's really odd. The thing is you can't uninstall just only modify, which will launch the installer where you can change, repair or remove. Is there some error message, or you don't have the button for it? Or I can recommend to use an uninstaller to uninstall Vmware like Revo uninstaller it will remove all regkeys and everything, reinstall and it will probably solve it.
