I'm well versed in VMware but kinda less than novice in Windows 11 You can remove (but in the end you can't, rather greated with a "ha-ha, fooled ya" message ) if that make sense. But no, no error messages, nothing is grayed out. It's first time for everything, this oddly came to me.
My point (atleast my experience...), you need installer, in my case with my version to downgrade -> uninstall, before you can install a new (in my case older version) Was not the case with v16 and maybe v17 (latter i have not played to much with i admit but they are more or less on same base)
The latest version of VMware Workstation (WS) 26H1 displays a black screen over the VM guest when I switch between them using Shift+Tab. I use Windows 10 Pro (4GB RAM), Windows 11 Pro (4GB RAM) and Ubuntu Mate (8GB RAM) and my system has 32GB RAM. This issue occurs randomly on all of them. The mouse and keyboard do nothing, but when I try to suspend the VM and cancel it, everything goes back to normal. Sometimes it does not happen, but other times it happens quite frequently. Has anyone else had this issue? It never happened in previous versions.
Hello, My two older VM guest machines: W11 25H2 build 26200.7623 (4 April 2026) and W11 25H2 build 26200.7171 (11 Nov 2025). In the latest version of VMware Workstation (26H1), it shows that they are encrypted and require a password when they start up. What is going on? EDIT: Solved. I replaced all the files except the .vmdk file in the VM guest with my current working version of W11 25H2 (the two W11 "above" are older copies). It works fine in both cases so far! Hooray!
