I still can't get it to downgrade to Core. I tried several Installation dvds, but no success. I'm still getting the error "This Upgradepath is not supported". Any idea?
Registered just to post this tip. The instructions say you must run "setup.exe" for "/sources". That did not work for me and resulted in "This upgrade path is not supported". I ran the "setup.exe" from the root of the DVD and it upgraded perfectly. (From Enterprise Eval to Enterprise). Thanks OP for your awesome program!
Hi everyone, This tool seems exactly what I was searching for. I accidentially upgraded from Win 8.1 to the Pro Version (with a standard key) and now can't activate. So I want to go back, without installing all the programs etc. again. Unfortunately I have a OEM windows. Acer Support Chat says i could make a Recovery USB stick and that this would be the only "installation medium" that would work with my key and my laptop. They suggest to just reset everything, which is not what i want. Now there are a lot of questions: 1) Does UpDown8 keep my system 'untouched' except for the windows downgrade? (will all programs still work, data still there...) 2) can I use the recovery stick with UpDown8? 3) If not, is there any way to download an Win8.1 version (for USB, i don't have a CD-drive) to use with UpDown8 and somehow make it work with my OEM key? (This would be nice because I could also skip the update from 8.1) I don't want to mess up my system, but it would be nice to have everything back to normal. If nothing works, I will keep the unactivated win8.1 pro and solve the problem when I have more time in my hand. I hope someone can help Thanks a lot Alex
So if I get it right: I just write down the OEM: DM key, download the right Iso for installation and than use UpDown8 with that iso? I have the Core Version. I guess i don't need to download all the languages that are included in the ISO download. So after downloading I can make a 'Language ISO' by executing the respective 'language exe' and then use the new Iso to make a bootable USB (by Rufus)? Does it matter for the whole activation/downgrade which language I choose? Since i had win8 and would use a win8.1 iso, I would have to use the generic key for installation. and the OEM: DM key afterwards for activation. The OEM: DM key is always the same, i.e. won't change after installing win8.1 pro? and just to be safe: will UpDown8 keep my programs and data?
@Al_aka_Silas Sorry for late reply. 1. Yes. 2. Yes. 3. Yes, both source & destination OS should be in same language. 4. Yes. 5. Yes. But I advise you to go for a fresh installation.
"Upgrade" from Enterprise Evaluation 8.1 x64 to regular enterprise did not work for me. "This upgrade path is not supported".
To do the job with a small tool is very nice of the team work.I'll put it in my tool box.Thank you all.
Btw its also possible to downgrade sku when upgrading between os, not that I recommend it but just saying. Ex Windows 8.1 Enterprise --> Windows 10 Professional.
If I do the repair install after the change, will I lose any installed things? Do I need to make Windows updates again? Will Office still work? Do drivers work?
It's not working for me. Windows 8.1, Core to Pro. I ran setup.exe in the sources folder, but choosing Upgrade just results in an error - this upgrade path is not supported.
